Miami's 2019 Film Festival starts March 1st and many Miami-based movies have made the cut this year. This festival is the largest film festival that takes place in South Florida and general admission is only $13. Students, seniors, and veterans can even get discounted tickets of only $10.
The Miami Film Festival hosts over 160 feature-length films, documentaries, and short films from 40 different countries. From March 1st to March 10th, the festival will be hosted at various venues, including the Olympia Theater, the Coral Gables Art Cinema, the Nite Owl Cinema, the Tower Theater and the Regal Cinemas South Beach 18.
The lineup for the Miami Film Festival will also include films directed by Miami locals. These directors are competing for the Knight Foundation's Knight Made in MIA Award.
The winner of this award receives $30,000 to the best feature-length film and $10,000 to the best short film dedicated to South Florida. Because of the Knight award, the number of films directed by locals are higher than ever.

Here are just a few of the movies being shown at the festival:
- Huracán - This psychological thriller was shot in Miami, focusing on a MMA fighter with Multiple Personality Disorder.
- A Name Without a Place - This coming-of-age drama is about a young man trying to retrace his late twin brother's excursion to the Florida Keys.
- Vandal - Written and directed by Jose Daniel Freixas, this independent feature film focuses on a Miami graffiti artist.
- Miami Basel: Art’s Winter Playground - This documentary focuses on the impact of the international art fair on Miami's culture.
The Miami Film Festival is an event that celebrates film and art and for only $13, anyone can attend the event. From horror to drama, there's a film for everyone to enjoy this March.
