Disney will be live streaming the grand opening.
If for some strange reason you haven't already heard, Walt Disney World in Orlando will be saying hello to its newest park this Saturday—Toy Story Land! As someone who grew up watching this classic, lovable Disney film, I have to admit that I'm seriously excited.
Many people think that this park is long overdue, especially because Toy Story is such a nostalgic tale and many of us feel like we grew up and went off to college with Andy.
If you're one of the lucky few who was able to attend an early debut of Toy Story Land, then you know first hand just how awesome this brand new park is going to be. If not, no worries - we've got all the details for you so you know exactly what to expect:
It's opening this Saturday, June 30th.
The date is fast approaching! After many months of waiting and going crazy with excitement, Toy Story Land will finally be opening to the public at Walt Disney World on Saturday, June 30th.
Disney will be live-streaming the park grand opening on Saturday.
As much as we all want to be there for the grand opening on Saturday, the odds of that happening are pretty slim. Disney World is making your dreams come true yet again though as they'll be live streaming the magical event for everyone to watch and enjoy.
You'll be able to grab a bite to eat at Woody's Lunchbox.
Everyone knows that Disneyland has some of the best eats anywhere, even Remy from Ratatouille gives them five stars! If you're hungry while in Toy Story Land be sure to drop by Woody's Lunchbox for a tasty meal and an old-fashioned float.
It's based on the Cars Land at Disneyland in California.
It looks like Mater and Lightning McQueen are even getting in on the fun over in California! Toy Story Land is based loosely on Cars Land from the Anaheim park but is dedicated to our dearest friends Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
There's a Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster.
Slinky Dog is one of the most beloved Toy Story characters so of course Toy Story Land had to honor him with his own ride! Hop on the Slinky Dog Dash, a rollercoaster that was assembled by Andy's Mega Coaster Play Kit. While you're riding along the tracks watch out for other favorite characters, like Jessie and Rex!
The park will cover roughly 11 acres of land.
After a day of exploring Toy Story Land, you may wish you could hop on Aladdin's magic carpet for a ride back home because you'll definitely be tired. The park will be situated behind the existing Toy Story Mania building, which means more Toy Story fun for everyone.
You'll be able to take a ride on Alien Swirling Saucers.
Peter Pan may take you to Neverland, but these little aliens will be able to take you even further—to outer space! Hop into the brand new Alien Swirling Saucers and get ready for take off! If you're extra lucky you'll be chosen by "the claw" for a special surprise.
You can expect to see a spectacular show at night.
Thanks to Tinkerbell's magic, Disney is known for their amazing nighttime displays, and Toy Story Land is no exception. When all the rides are lit up and the music is blaring it's a totally amazing and immersive experience you won't soon forget.
You'll be able to get Slinky Dog ears.
Most people who go to Disney pick up a pair of Minnie/Mickey Mouse ears, but if you want to stick out from the crowd and show off your love for Toy Story, you'll be able to grab a pair of these super cute Slinky Dog ears.
You'll be able to snap a photo with Rex.
There's no way you can deny it, Rex is as sweet as Disneyworld's famous Dole Whip. If you love him as much as we do, you'll definitely want to take the opportunity to snap a picture with him while you can.
Wheezy is back and better than ever.
It wouldn't be Toy Story Land without Wheezy the penguin! As patrons of the park finish their ride down Slinky Dog Dash, you'll be greeted with a warm goodbye as Wheezy bursts into an adorable rendition of "You've Got a Friend In Me." We're not crying, you are.
You'll be able to pick up Fast Pass+ for the rides.
If you've been to Disneyworld before, you know first hand how long the lineups can be. Standing around in the hot Orlando sun all day will make you wish you could turn into a mermaid and go for a swim with Ariel. Luckily, Toy Story Land will offer Fast Passes for those who want to skip the line and see what all the excitement is about.
Hollywood Studios will be extending its hours for the opening.
You asked your fairy godmother, and your dreams came true! For a limited time, Disney has confirmed that Hollywood Studios will be open from 8 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. for your enjoyment. That means more time to explore, take pictures with your favorites, and cross all the rides off your bucket list.
Woody, Jess, and Buzz Lightyear will be available for meet and greets.
There really is no better feeling than getting a hug from one of your childhood favorites. If you're hoping to meet the cowboy, cowgirl, and astronaut who shaped your childhood, you're in luck. Toy Story Land will offer regular meet and greet and photo sessions with the characters - make sure you've got your autograph book!
Mr. Potato Head will be there too.
As crabby as he may be, you can't help but love poor Mr. Potato Head. His constant misfortunes provide a ton of laughter. Be sure to snap a photo with him while you visit the park!
The park is designed to make you feel like a small toy in a normal world.
If you ever wondered how Woody and his friends felt being so small, you now have a chance to find out! Toy Story Land is designed in such a way that you'll feel like a tiny toy in comparison to the massive rides and figures - talk about magical!
You'll still be able to play all your favorite arcade games at Toy Story Mania.
Don't you worry, Toy Story Mania won't be shutting down any time soon. If you didn't already know, you can blast your way through an abundance of 4D games located inside Andy's room. Loser buys a meal at Woody's Lunchbox?
Sarge's Green Army will be on patrol throughout the park.
You need some sort of security running the place, obviously, and who better for the job than Sarge and his green army? The troops will be keeping things in line and leading a ton of fun and interactive games for you to partake in.
The first Toy Story Land was built at the Paris park.
While this is the first Toy Story Land at the U.S. parks, it's not the first Toy Story Land in Disney history. The original was built in Paris, but you can also find locations in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
You'll also be able to pick up alien headbands to rock.
What's the point in going to Toy Story Land if you don't pick up some awesome merch? Apart from the Slinky Dog ears, you'll also be able to grab these super cute, out of this world alien ears.
If you're checking out the opening, you'll want to get there early.
Disney is anticipating that the park will not only reach capacity quickly on opening day but also for the upcoming weeks. Are we surprised? Absolutely not. If you're one of the lucky few heading to check it out, be sure to arrive as early as possible to avoid longer wait times.
The park is built to resemble Andy's backyard.
Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang spent plenty of time in Andy's backyard, and now you can too. The park is designed to not only make you feel small but also to make you feel right at home in Andy's yard.
The park was originally supposed to open in May of 2018.
Toy Story Land is something many of us have been waiting for YEARS. The park was originally supposed to open in May of 2018, but it had been delayed up until the end of June, likely to allow Disney to increase hype around the park.
Disneyland in California just opened Pixar Pier.
It's a big year for Pixar it seems. On top of opening up Toy Story Land in Disney World, they also just opened Pixar Pier in California. Both attractions look seriously amazing and have been added to the top of our Disney bucket lists.
There's a giant statue of Woody standing nearly 20 feet tall.
Seeing as Sherriff Woody is the main character in Toy Story, it would only make sense to have a giant monument in his honor. The statue stands nearly 20 feet tall which means any person will look tiny in comparison.
Benches and lampposts around the park are designed to look like your childhood toys.
If you're looking for a bench to rest your feet while in Toy Story Land, you may realize that it was actually built from Lincoln Logs. Likewise, the lampposts are made from Tinkertoys and K'Nex pieces.
The Slinky Dog Dash is the first Disney roller coaster ever to feature a second launch point.
You were probably super excited about Disney World's new roller coaster anyways, but to make it even cooler, it turns out that the Slinky Dog Dash is the first Disney coaster to ever feature a second launch point. At this secondary point, riders will experience cool sound effects and lights that make the ride even more awesome.
A new Disney Parks Mobile App will be debuting when the park opens.
Just when you thought the fun was over! On June 30th, when Toy Story Land opens, a brand new Disney Parks Mobile App will also be launched. The app is designed to make waiting in line for fun with various games designed for different rides. It also gives users the opportunity to collect points and play Disney trivia.
A lot of people are seriously excited about this new park.
