So many new things are coming to Florida theme parks this year, but one of the most anticipated attractions is the state's tallest launch coaster. Thankfully the wait is almost over - Busch Gardens Tampa is starting to complete the final phases of the ride's construction.
Already given the name Tigris to mimic the awe-inspiring agility of the world’s largest and most powerful cat –the tiger, this coaster will catapult riders through an exhilarating array of looping twists with forward and backward motion, breath-taking drops, a 150-foot skyward surge, and an inverted heartline roll - all at more than 60 miles per hour.
Construction of Tigris has been going to plan and is still on schedule for completion in Spring of 2019. Currently, over 761,000 pounds of concrete have been poured, the massive steel anchors have been placed, and the track was just completed.
The coaster will be taking the place of the Tidal Wave ride, and Busch Gardens has been using recycled materials from both the Tidal Wave and other attractions in the park for Tigris to promote conservation.

More new rides are on the horizon for Busch Gardens – a second new thrill ride will be coming to the Gwazi area of the park in 2020.
