Tampa's River Will Soon Turn A Wild Bright Green Color (PHOTOS)
Tampa's river will turn green for the St. Patrick's Day celebration.
Get ready to celebrate the most colorful Irish celebration in Florida. In just under a month the Hillsborough River will be dyed once again in observance of St. Patrick's Day - turning Tampa's river bright green for the River O' Green celebration.
You can help paint the river green on Saturday, March 16th. The event will start at 11 am and it will be the best Irish-themed party Downtown Tampa will see all year. There will be a lot of activities adults can enjoy on St. Patrick's Day. The morning will start with the 'River O' Gallop' - a fun run around the riverwalk. And if you love prizes, you can participate in the Leprechaun costume contest or the River O' Green Scavenger Hunt. This one includes free welcome shot, bar games, discounted food and drink specials, and a goody bag for each team captain. You can register for the scavenger hunt here.
Did you know that the first St. Patrick's Day celebration started in Florida and not Boston or New York? Well, it's time you get lucky at this massive celebration.
There will be lots of beer and great music by Irish Buskers and Paddy O’Furniture. You can also paddleboard on the green river or come on a boat. This event is completely FREE and everyone can attend. Including your dogs!
If you're wondering about environmental issues, no worries. The green dye is safe for humans and biodegradable. The event will run until 5 pm but other activities go until night.
The event will be held at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park located at 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa.
