There's no easy way around it - the morning after NYE is going to be brutal. Braving the day on just a few hours of sleep, a head drowning in a champagne daze and last night's makeup smeared across your face - yep, January 1st is never a pretty sight.
Which obviously calls for one necessary thing: brunch. Thankfully, some of our favorite Boston brunch spots are open to aid us in tackling the worst hangover of the year. Offering mid-morning staples (hello, Bloody Mary), day party necessities (I'm looking at you, mimosas) and tasty fuel to put a little more pep in our step (bring on the chicken and waffles), here are 14 of the best Boston brunches open on New Year's Day.
Central Wharf // 160 Milk Street
When you've got all you can eat brunch, lots of booze, football playing in the background and entertainment that to keep you occupied for hours...you just might forget you even had a hangover to begin with.
Bostonia Public House // 131 State Street
DIY Bloody Mary bar and live music, what else do you need? Maybe a short rib biscuit and gravy with a side of rosemary polenta fries?
Alden & Harlow // 40 Brattle Street, Cambridge
Specialty cocktails and flavor-forward dishes will bring you back to life from NYE's debauchery - that is, if you can snag reservations.
Brewer’s Fork // 7 Moulton St, Charlestown
Whether you're in the mood for "lunchy" meal or a "breakfasty" dish, Brewer's Fork has got you covered. Plus their huge draft beer list will rectify any nagging hangover (or at least put it on hold for a while).
Masa // 439 Tremont Street
Looking for brunch with a Southwestern flare? Masa is your spot. Think breakfast tacos, burritos and mucho margaritas.
Aquitane // 569 Tremont Street
Your choice of prix fixe or a la carte, Aquitane is offering up their well-known french cuisine to ring in the new year, très délicieux.
Time: Brunch: 9am-3pm
Coppersmith // 40 W 3rd St, South Boston
Brunch. All. Day. Coppersmith is the ideal brunch location for those who can't bare to face the light of day until the clock strikes noon, since they're offering brunch basically the entire day. The buffet costs $20.17 (how clever) per person...not bad at all.
Yvonne’s // 2 Winter Pl
Home to one of Boston's most notable bartenders, you can rest assured that Yvonne's is a New Year's Day brunch destination that will not disappoint.
Eastern Standard // 528 Commonwealth Ave
Here to help you recover...or get into just a little more trouble...Eastern Standard is throwing a tiki style brunch on the first. Oh, and for those who plan on skipping that little thing known as sleep entirely - they open at 7am for breakfast.
Craigie on Main // 853 Main Street, Cambridge
For $50 you can head to Craigie on Main for a 3-course meal guaranteed to make you feel better (at least for a little while). Plus, one lucky table will be chosen at random between brunch hours to have their entire bill comp’d.
Area Four // 500 Technology Square, Cambridge
This is where you can find me on New Year's morning, sipping my hangover-curing brunch flight. What is a brunch flight you ask? Let me tell you: a flight concocted of a Mimosa, Bloody Mary, Cider & Bitters and a Coffeehouse Porter.
Loretta's Last Call // 1 Lansdowne St
Complete with a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, mimosa bar and live bluegrass music; if you're ready to keep the party going, this is the place you want to be.
Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar // 412 West Broadway
Another option for margarita-lovin'-guacamole-enthusiasts.
