These Beautiful Gardens In Galveston Will Make You Feel Like You're In The Tropics
The Moody Gardens in Galveston are perfect for a mini trip to paradise.
If you've ever wanted to explore the oudoors while not really wanting to go outside, then the beautiful Moody Gardens is the perfect place for you. The massive indoor gardens complete with indoor rainforest and underwater aquarium are located in Galveston at One Hope Boulevard.
The massive garden is loaded with plenty of sites to see. Moody Gardens consist of two giant pyramid buildings, a 3D movie theatre, a museum, a boat, a forest, its own beach and a hotel.
One of the main attractions is an indoor rainforest where animals like monkeys, birds and otters all run free. The rainforest is an interactive experience which means you can get up close and personal with these creatures that come from all over Asia, Africa and the Americas. This pyramid is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is $25 to enter. It is also opened all year round so you can feel free to stop by at any time.
The other pyramid in the gardens is the aquarium pyramid. This section of the gardens explores everything the oceans have to offer, hosting underwater life from the Gulf of Mexico to the Caribbean Islands. While you're there you can take a walk in their enchanting underwater tunnel which make you feel like you're really under the sea. You'll have a chance to see sharks, stingrays and the most adorable penguins ever. The aquarium is $32 to enter and is also open 365 days a year.
If you're really enjoying your time in the gardens, they do have a hotel for visitors to stay at. Prices for the hotel start at $200 and work its way up from there depending on the package you desire.
The hotel is also right next to Schlitterbahn, which is not part of the gardens, but honestly who wouldn't want to be that close to Schlitterbahn.
Moody Gardens also has an outdoor ropes course and zip lining if you're feeling extra adventurous. The course is only open on weekends for now from noon to 6 p.m. Zip lining is $20 and if you want to also do the obstacle course its $35.
