Christmas isn’t the only time of year when the Hallmark channel airs cheesy movies that some viewers just can’t help but watch. While a lot of those Christmas movies use Canada as the backdrop to their winter wonderland, it also so happens that a lot of Valentine’s Day Hallmark movies are filmed in the great white north. Sometimes that even means transforming Canadian cities to look like locations in another country!

According to their website, the Hallmark Channel is currently celebrating “Love Ever After” for the entire month of February. While in Canada we don't have access to the Hallmark Channel, the W Network offers the same movies on Canadian TV.

If you manage to catch these next couple of films airing on the network as part of “Love Ever After,” you might be able to recognize some of their filming locations.

A Valentine’s Match

A Valentine’s Match is a new addition to the network’s collection this year. It stars Bethany Joy Lenz and Luke Macfarlane.

The synopsis for the film on IMDb reads, “Fired from her job as a reality TV host, Natalie returns home for Valentine's Day, only to find herself running the town festival's auction with her ex-fiancé thanks to two scheming mothers.”

The IMDb page also reveals its original release date of February 1, 2020, but the W Network website has the film scheduled to replay in Canada on February 15.

IMDb states the film was shot in Vancouver, BC with director Christie Wolf confirming the filming location on Instagram by hashtagging “Vancouver Film” in her post.

Frozen In Love

Frozen In Love, although released two years ago, could still have potential as an add-on to your Hallmark binge watch. The film follows Adam, a hockey player, and bookstore owner Mary. The two are forced to work with one another to change what IMDb describes as their “image”.

TheCinemeholic recently uncovered some very Canadian filming locations for this film. Production was set up in BC for this movie with shoot dates in Vancouver and Revelstoke.

Matching Hearts

Matching Hearts originally aired on February, 8 according to IMDb, and unfortunately doesn't have any future air dates on the W Network as of yet. However, you can check in here to keep up to date on when to tune in.

The film stars Taylor Cole and Ryan Paevey who play a professional matchmaker and town newcomer respectively. Julia (Cole) attempts to get Daniel (Paevey) to sign up for the town’s matchmaking services, but Julia soon realizes she may be falling for him herself.

Although according to Heavy, the movie takes place in Oregon, it was actually filmed in Vancouver.

When leading lady Taylor Cole shared an Instagram post announcing the wrap of the movie she tagged her location as Vancouver, BC. Castmate Latonya Williams also did the same!

The Secret Ingredient

The Secret Ingredient has yet to air on the W Network, with the network holding off on its premiere until February 15.

The premiere stars actors Erin Cahill and Brendan Penny. The plot on IMDb has the film as being about a Valentine’s Day-themed baking competition in New York City that Kelly (Cahill) enters herself in. Her ex-fiancee (Penny) also happens to be on a trip to The Big Apple.

According to ACTRA Manitoba, the film finished wrapping in Winnipeg on December 19, 2019.
