13 Places In Vancouver To Meet A Man That Isn't Tinder

These days its almost impossible to avoid using Tinder. Vancouverites are really busy people with very important lives, which is why using apps like Tinder and Bumble are so popular. But the idea of having a list of every single (maybe) guy in Vancouver that I can dismiss the idea of a relationship with by a shallow swipe of the finger really turns me off from dating in general.

Ladies! One thing you need to remember is that there are men everywhere. If you look up from your phone for a few minutes while your walking the streets of Gastown, or even during your next trip to the grocery store, you are bound to find your next boo thing a lot faster. Be the confident, strong and powerful woman you are and don't be afraid to be the first to open your moth and say hello the next time you encounter one of Vancouver's finest!

Whole Foods

Since we all have to eat, we all need to end up at a grocery store sooner or later. This is a great place to meet a guy for many reasons. First, because chances are if you are at the grocery store at the same time, you probably have similar schedules. Second, grocery shopping is something a lot of couples do together...so if a guy is grocery shopping by himself, chances are he is single. Lastly, the Whole Foods on Cambie Street is hot guy heaven. Especially right before they close. I sh*t you not! Hot guys are super busy so they have to do their shopping at night, hang out in the frozen food section around 10:30pm and chances are you'll meet your dream boat!

A Bookstore

If you're really into reading, this is a perfect place to meet a guy. Spend a few hours at your local bookstore and hang out in your favourite section. Catch up on some reading and scope out all the cute guys in the area. MacLeod's Books on Pender St and Richards in downtown Vancouver is a great spot! The store is so cute and has a really great selection of books!

University Library

School is almost starting, which means a sh*t ton of new guys on campus. UBC has so many libraries...chances are you are already thinking about the one hot guy that was always studying in same library as you last semester that you never said hello to and now you are STILL kicking yourself over it. New semester, new guys, new you...a you with a boyfriend you met in the Asian Studies Library.

The Gym

I have never been a fan of socializing at the gym. In fact it drives me crazy when you run into someone you know and all they want to do is catch up. Like, girl, can't you see I'm sweating like a pig tryna run off last nights third helping of spaghetti and meatballs on this treadmill? But on the off day that I look friggen amazing and I haven't eaten fried chicken in at least a week, I usually feel really confident at the gym. Approaching someone you don't know is always hard, but you already have one thing in common. So ask your gym crush to spot you, or show you a new routine....then you can show him a new routine later....in your bedroom. :)

The dog park in Yaletown

If you own a dog you are super lucky because you really don't need a boyfriend. But if you really want both, you are lucky again because it seems all the babes in Vancouver own a really cute dog that they constantly post pictures with on Insta. The dog park in Yaletown is a great place to meet guys in Vancouver....You might have to do some really covert flirting to find out if these guys are single but I'm sure its totally worth it. If you don't have a dog, ask a friend to let you dog sit for a day so you have an excuse to hang out with the other dog people.

Take A Class

Literally any class. Yoga, painting, bartending, ANYTHING! You will meet an entire group of new people who are interested in the same thing are you. Not only will you potentially meet the man of your dreams, but doing something good for you is important for your health. Even though your looking for Mr. Right, don't forget to always take care of Number 1. Take a rowing class and kill two birds with one stone....meet a really fit guy and get some major exercise while doing it! Your body will thank you in more ways than one.

While Donating Blood

I know what you're thinking, this seems like a really odd place to meet a guy. But why should it be? You're stuck sitting in the chair while you selflessly donate to a great cause. What a perfect time and place to chat up the hottie next to you. Not only do you look like the good samaritan you truly are but you could potentially meet a guy who is equally as passionate about donating blood! Go with a group of friends and ask them to invite some single guys. Who knows, you might get light headed and fall for the guy next to you. Then afterwards you can share a cookie and a glass of orange juice together.

A Running Club

If you love to run or want to get motivated to to start running, I suggest signing up for a running club. You'll meet a ton of people and your body will thank you for all the exercise you are getting. Staying fit is important to Vancouverites, which means there are many running clubs all over the city to chose from. Pick one in your area and you are bound to meet a few guys right in your neighbourhood!

The Laundry Valet

Doing laundry is never fun. Especially if you have to leave your apartment to do it. Going to the laundromat means having to spend at least two whole hours sitting around a really poorly lit room with nothing to do but troll Instagram and Facebook. Next time you run out of underwear, head to The Laundry Valet in the West End. The spot has a cool vibe, some leather couches and a big screen TV. That neighbourhood is full of babes and they are going to have to do laundry eventually! And when they do, you will be waiting :)

A Reality Show

You could always just apply to be on The Bachelor.

Home Depot

Straight up! This is the spot ladies. Babes on babes on babes. Guys who work with their hands and know their way around a tool belt will always be at the hardware store. This is probably my personal favourite place to meet a man. I otherwise have no reason to go to a hardware store and Home Depot is so big that now one will ever question why you are just floating around the store following guys in Carharts. Plus they are suuuuper helpful so it's really easy to talk to them. Step 1: Spot babe. Step 2: Look confused and ask babe where to find paint section. (babe will know because he spends so much time at this store). Step 3: Flirt with babe. Congratulations, you got his number!

Edgewater Casino

Guys love to hang out at the casino and gamble. I recommend going later in the evening on the a weekend and definitely go with a few friends! Chances are you will meet a group a of guys that are out for the night, or just in town for the weekend. Either way, you're going to have an epic rest of your evening. Learn how to play Black Jack and win you and your girl some cash! What's better then free money and babes for everyone?

The bus

Or the Seabus. Or the Skytrain. If you ever wanted a romantic love story this is one way to start it. The next time you see your dream guy sitting across the bus from you, flash him a cute smile. If he is single he will not be able to resist coming over to talk to you. At the very least you will end up with his number, or you could end up riding the bus for hours getting to know each other and then ending the night with a romantic date!
