17 Best Patios By Neighbourhood In Vancouver

The ultimate summer patio guide.

Summer is just around the corner but even the spring weather has been so nice, we have even seen temperatures in the high 20s as early as mid-April. Nice weather means patio season has arrived and the only thing better then hanging at the beach all day is lounging on a patio enjoying some of the best views, brews, and people watching Vancouver has to offer.

Combine good weather with happy hour and you’ve got yourself a great afternoon. There are some really dope spots on this list so prepare to thank me for helping make your summer 2016 one to remember.

Here is a list of the 17 best patios to spend your time at this summer.

The Keg // 1011 Mainland Street

As far as rooftop patios in Yaletown go, The Keg is my favorite. Its a huge patio with its own bar and is perfect for a late night dinner date. They turn heaters on at night so it stays warm up there throughout the year.

Yaletown Brewing Company // 1111 Mainland St

This is a great spot for some afternoon into the evening drinks with some friends. The patio offers great people watching in Yaletown. The crowd here is generally mid 20s-mid 30s, making it a great place to avoid new drinkers and meet some men with real jobs.

North/West Vancouver

Lift Bar and Grill // 333 Menchions Mews

If you would prefer a view of West Vancouver the patio at Lift will be your jam, offering panoramic views from Stanley Park to the Second Narrows Bridge.

Pier 7 Restaurant and Bar // 25 Wallace Mews

Located in West Vancouver, Pier 7's patio offers some of the best views of Downtown Vancouver. This is definitely more of a romantic date kind of patio so I suggest trying to get a table before sunset if you can because there is nothing like that West Coast sunset.

Altitudes Bistro // 6400 Nancy Greene Way

A quick 15 minute drive from Vancouver and you'll find yourself on the highest patio overlooking all of the Lower Mainland. Enjoy beautiful views from Grouse Mountain that you cannot get anywhere else. I highly recommend you add this spot to your summer patio bucket list.

Commercial Drive

Havana //1212 Commercial Dr.

Enjoy some delicious cuban food with some of the best people watching in Vancouver. Right in the heart of Commercial drive you're bound to be entertained. This is the spot to grab your friends and drink all afternoon.

Falconetti’s // 1812 Commercial Dr

The rooftop patio is a bit small so it fills up fast but if you go there on an off day during happy hour you won't be complaining about anything. The food is unreal and their happy hour is equally awesome. The menu offers a list of different styles of sausage so if you're a Vegan you should avoid this spot on the Drive.

Pop-Up Patio at The Westin Grand Hotel // 433 Robson Street

This is number 1 on my list of places to spend my time this summer. So if ever I'm not answering my phone its because I'm taking a dip in the pool on the rooftop terrace at the Westin Grand Hotel for their Pop-Up Patio. Their website doesn't say exactly when they open but its open every Thursday and Friday from 5pm-9pm in the summer. They even offer a happy hour food and drink menu.

All Star Wings and Ribs // 808 Bute Street

If you're looking for somewhere to grab a bite before you head out to the third beach you should hit up the patio at All Star. Its perfect pub food to cure any stomach rumble.

Reflections Restaurant  // 801 West Georgia St

The rooftop terrace is a classy spot so don't show up in your ripped jeans and plaid shirt. This is a great spot to enjoy a glass of champagne or a bottle of wine with your closest friends. Located inside the beautiful Hotel Georgia this would be the place to accidentally run into your favorite celebrity in town filming their new movie.

 The Roof // 3rd Floor, 1032 Alberni

If you find yourself looking for a great lunch spot with a cool vibe and decent prices this summer, remember this spot. Fridays are the best days because of the $11 burger and a beer lunch special. They also have an early happy hour from 2:30pm-5:30pm with $5 drinks and 50% off the cocktail hour food menu every day.

The Local // 2210 Cornwall Ave

A Kitsalano favorite, this place is always busy in the summer time. The patio is massive and it gets sun all day. Its right across the street from Kits beach, making it the first place to get a cold beer after you've ran out of the ones you brought to the beach.

The West End

Cactus Club English Bay // 1790 Beach Ave

If you don't mind waiting up to an hour for a table on the patio then you should hit up English Bay Cactus. This is the spot I take my parents when they're in town. Its a nice place, the menu is decent and wont break the bank. Also it has a really cool view of the beach at English Bay and gives you this vibe like you chilling in Venice Beach.

Granville Island

Dockside // 1253 Johnston St

My favorite patio on Granville Island, it looks right out onto False Creek and is generally lined with huge yachts parked outside. It's the best at night because the city lights are amazing and after dinner you can take an amazing stroll through Granville Island just by stepping off the patio.

Chambar // 568 Beatty St

If you're looking for a new brunch place you should find yourself on the patio at Chambar this weekend. I highly recommend you order the waffles with all the dipping sauces. The brick building and the casual seating gives it a real Gastown vibe. Although this spot is located on Beatty St, basically between Yaletown and Gastown.

Chill Winston / /3 Alexander St

The ultimate people watching patio. Gastown is a small neighbourhood so its always common to run into people you know. Sitting on the Chill Winston patio in the middle of summer will make you understand how truly small of a world Vancouver is. You will see at least 3-4 friends in the time you are out there and you'll leave feeling like a celebrity. They also have some bomb AF chicken and waffles.

Olympic Village

Tap and Barrel // 1 Athletes Way

The rent must be pretty high in this location since it is Olympic Village but it shows in the food prices so this might not be the best spot if your on a budget. On Sundays they have Caesars on special and they make a damn good spicy Ceasar so maybe just go for the drinks and the view. The patio offers a great view of BC place, Science World and Yaletown.
