If you're the type of Vancouverite who likes to avoid crossing bridges then you probably haven't been to North Vancouver yet. On the other side of The Lion's Gate or Iron Workers you'll be sure to find mountains to hike, greenery to stroll through, and a community of inclusive and friendly folk.
If you are from North Vancouver, admit it. You know every single person on this list.
Here are the 7 types of people you'll definitely meet in North Vancouver. Which one are you?
The Nature Lover
Owns a DSLR but only takes it up Grouse or Baden Powell. Loves walking through forests with a walking stick they fashioned out of a decomposed log. Knows what kinds of mushrooms are edible and which ones are poisonous. Makes you apologize to the tree if you pull a leaf off it.
Usually part of a nuclear family. The mom stands at the front doorstep and waves as you come home from school or work. Always smiling like you said something funny but you haven't even said hi. The dad washes his car every Sunday and throws back an earnest laugh and an, "oh, you" when you call out, "washing it again, Marv?"
They have a 'block watch' sign posted in the window and there is always a smell of fresh baked cookies wafting from the chimney.
The Community Leader
Girl Guide leader 8 years running. Coaches the soccer and baseball teams of all her 3 kids. Definitely volunteers at Caribbean Days at the Quay. Definitely thinks you can be whatever you want to be if you just work hard and have a great attitude.
Not to be confused with The Nature Lover. The Hiker enjoys the outdoors but only for the time between the base of the hike and the peak. Always wears a FitBit. Has a membership to Club 16. Only uses it for the StairMaster.
The Lower Lonsdaler
Lives in a new condo down at The Pier. Shops exclusively at small boutiques like Moulé or Unity. The fact that The Juicery opened up is the best news since their kid got into a private school outside their catchment. Basically lives at Buddha-Full.
Can afford the lifestyle because they live on LOWER. LONSDALE.
The New Parents
Armed with a baby bjorn, stroller, formula, and 5 pairs of diapers too many. Always seen taking walks around the neighbourhood smiling at everyone they pass. Thinks their 3 week old is going to remember going down the slide at the park their mother grew up in while strapped to their dad's chest.
The new parents can be seen chatting up parents of toddlers at Mahon Park seeking "friendly advice."
