Port Moody has a lot going for it. As one of the Tri-Cities (alongside Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam), Port Moody has gained a reputation as the most charming and modern city within Vancouver's reach. The Evergreen Line, an 11-kilometre extension of Vancouver's existing SkyTrain system, is nearing completion, and by December 2nd Port Moody will be much more accessible to all. While the city is only a short drive from Vancouver as is, now there's an even faster way to conveniently hop on over and indulge in the best this city has to offer. Some of BC's most popular hiking trails are at your fingertips in Port Moody. Local favourites include the inimitable Buntzen Lake, surrounded by Eagle Ridge Mountain to the east and Buntzen Ridge to the west. The surrounding hiking trails vary in difficulty, so no matter how seasoned of an explorer you are, there's a suitable trail with breathtaking views awaiting you.
Explore Port Moody's vibrant arts scene
Port Moody's title as 'City of the Arts' is hardly a misnomer; the city's organizations and festivals cement its position as a supporter and locus of artistic talent. The Port Moody Arts Centre offers over 300 courses each year and hosts excellent exhibits in its public art gallery. Facilities like the Inlet Theatre and The Port Moody Station Museum also motivate the public's engagement with art. The Stanley Park of Port Moody, Rocky Point is definitely PoMo's most beloved park. With 3.8 hectares to explore, you're going to want to fuel up before taking advantage of the many amenities Rocky Point has to offer (including a water park, a boat launch, a swimming pool and a number of trails). The Boathouse offers incredible views of the Burrard Inlet and Seymour Mountain - take in the sights while enjoying a distinctively west coast menu.
