Over the past few days a B.C. wildfire has devastated Lytton, a small town in central B.C. The fire has officially been deemed "out of control," and hundreds of people and their families have been affected.
But while Lytton itself might be small, Canadians all across the country can help those affected by the disaster.
GoFundMe is currently hosting several fundraisers dedicated to supporting people experiencing displacement or loss, and almost all of them are yet to meet their fundraising goal.

Help for the victims of the Lytton wildfire

Cause: This is a general fundraiser for anybody in the town of Lytton who has been affected by the wildfires. Organizer Melissa Charles updated the page recently to say they had reached out to town officials to determine the best way to distribute the money raised.
Lytton First Nation Community Emergency Support

Organizer Rosalin Miles started this fundraiser on behalf of the Lytton First Nation to help the whole community in the area recover from the devastating wildfire. Miles says they are a certified donee and can provide tax receipts.
My brothers lost their home
My brothers lost their home, organized by Nicole SmithMoney Raised: $2,270 / $5,000
Donors: 31
Cause: The brothers of organizer Nicole Smith lost their house and everything in it to the fire, Smith says, which is why they're looking for any support to help the rebuilding process.
Help Jamie Von Sacken and the Lytton Rattlers
Help Jamie Von Sacken and the Lytton Rattlers, organized by Terry ChuiMoney Raised: $2,440 / $50,000

Cause: The B.C. wildfire could still grow, which means more and more work for local fire crews. One such group — the Lytton Rattlers — is accepting donations thanks to an uncle of one of the members. Many in the crew have lost personal belongings in the fire, which is why the fundraiser has been started.

Donors: 16
Cause: This fundraiser was started by Kili'la Birth Keeper Collective, an Indigenous-led support group for families needing prenatal and birthing support. The money will go to families in the Kili'la birth family circle who are "experiencing devastation" due to the fire.
Love for Lytton
Love for Lytton, organized by Lauren AustenMoney Raised: $29,660 / $40,000
Donors: 349
Cause: With another fundraiser for the town in general, organizer Lauren Austen once lived in Lytton — which is why they feel so strongly about supporting it. The money will go towards supporting either the town of Lytton or the Lytton First Nation, depending on when Austen hears back from local leaders.
"All I can say if that if you ever had the opportunity to live in this community, you would want to help too," Austen writes.
