If you're an adventurous eater, Vancouver is the ideal spot to call home. Almost every week, there is a new eye-catching dish to try in our vibrant culinary scene. If you consider yourself a foodie, chances are you've heard of the Insta-famous beer ramen in Vancouver. But did you know the same shop also offers a similar dish called milk tea udon?
If you want to try the unique spin on udon or ramen, you'll have to head to Yuu Japanese Tapas in Richmond.
One of their newest dishes is Hokkaido Milk Tea Udon, which is a dessert version of udon. It is gluten-free creamy panna cotta cut into "noodles" and served in a cup of Hokkaido milk tea from northern Japan.
If you are curious to see what it tastes like, it certainly won't break the bank. It is only $5.95, with an extra topping costing an additional $1.50.
Yuu Japanese Tapas told Narcity in an email the inspiration for the dish came from them, "exploring other creamier topping option than boba".
Since the summer of 2018, they've been selling beer ramen, which doesn't contain beer at all!
The idea behind it was to craft something cool to help people beat the heat. As let's face it when it is hot outside, you might not want a steaming bowl of noodles.
The hearty dish is $16.95 and comes with a basket of crispy and juicy deep-fried boneless chicken or tempura vegetable fritters. If you are craving a bit of heat, then you'll want to dip them into the wasabi.
According to the restaurant, when people first order the beer ramen, they are skeptical if they will enjoy it.
But after slurping a few of the tasty noodles, they keep returning to order it again.
