Not only are schools closed down across the city, but there have been significant transit delays as well, and even shutdowns. Vancouver's Skytrain, The Expo line, is not operating between Columbia Station and Lougheed Station because of the weather, Translink announced in a tweet.
There is also a reduction in service on the Expo and Millennium line of the Skytrain. Translink warned commuters that there is expected to be delays and extra crowding on buses and trains today.
#TransitAlert Due to snowy & icy weather, remember to dress for the elements, wear proper footwear and expect some service disruptions throughout the day. There may be extra crowding on some routes as many articulated buses have been switched with standard, 40-foot buses. ^DA
People have not been happy with all the transit delays across the city. Some have even taken to Twitter to complain. From the pictures they are sharing, you can see how intense the lineups are for transit in Vancouver today.
Totally flabbergasted at @TransLink#SkyTrain this morning. It's like they had no idea it was going to snow! Current lineup for M Line, E Line center platform is FULL. #SnowMageddon2019 apparently. #BCStorm#Burnaby#publictransit#Vancouverhttps://t.co/0AVDWJRxrxpic.twitter.com/Xlx7gDQkPJ
Right now at Columbia Station platform waterfront direction #skytrain no announcement what’s happening more than 10 mins pic.twitter.com/phAA9JB5jh
I try not to take the #Skytrain between 8-10am but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Whenever there’s any sort of problem, like today, it’s insane. What’s the solution? I try not to drive but it’s becoming increasingly hard to avoid doing so (yes, I walk/bike when I can). #Vancouverpic.twitter.com/JUFUEs2O8d
First train in 25 minutes. Two of the doors weren't opening. Probably because people were pushing them open to get on. #newwestminster#skytrain#bcstorm#mytranslink#delayspic.twitter.com/HVFRTPwS89
The YVR Airport in Vancouver is also reminding passengers to check their flight information beforehand and make sure to get there extra early because of the snowy weather. There have been several delayed and even canceled flights today at the Vancouver airport.
Winter weather conditions continue at YVR with more snow in the forecast. We’ve got our whole crew working hard to get people on their way. Be safe, leave plenty of time and check with your airline for flight info before heading to the airport. #snowdaypic.twitter.com/DsNBl7mDQX
The City of Vancouver has also announced that they will not be collecting Green Bins today and tomorrow.
Green Bin service is cancelled today & tomorrow (Feb. 11 and 12) to allow crews to focus on snow clearing, salting and garbage collection. Regular Green Bin service is expected to resume Feb. 13. For more info: https://t.co/4qXl140pyqpic.twitter.com/IIJjWnPbg5
BC Ferries has cancelled several of their sailings because of the weather.
#BCFHeadsUpDue to deteriorating weather & snow forecast, the last trips for several routes between Metro Vancouver & Vancouver Island are cancelled. Our crews are working hard to keep you moving safely today 👊. More about the cancelled sailings: https://t.co/FzITweKVGn ^as
Canada Post has also announced that some Metro Vancouver residents would not be receiving mail today.
Weather conditions are impeding mail delivery in the Greater Vancouver Area, on Vancouver Island and the South Coast of BC. While every effort is being made to deliver the mail, some customers may not receive mail today. Delivery will resume once it's safe to do so.
Vancouverites have not exactly been enjoying some of the shutdowns and delays across the city. Many have taken to Twitter to talk about the snowy, cold weather in the city right now or to share photos or video of what a snow day looks like in Vancouver.

Vancouver, why the f is every single city so unprepared when it starts snowing? The roads are just ridiculous... #vancouversnow
