Parts Of Vancouver Are Shutting Down As The City Braces For Another Snow Storm Today
After what was an unusually warm and sunny few months, winter has finally decided to hit Vancouver hard and the city is not exactly prepared for it. Parts of Vancouver are shutting down as the city braces for another snow storm today. Several school districts and universities across the Greater Vancouver area have completely closed down today. Environment Canada has even issued another weather warning for the city of Vancouver.

Vancouver is expected to be hit by up to 15 cm of snow today, according to Environment Canada's weather warning. They also forecast a "long period of snowfall" is coming.

"A second low pressure centre in as many days will give more snow to the South Coast beginning this afternoon and continuing into Tuesday morning," reads the alert. "This second disturbance will spread snow to virtually the entire South Coast with heaviest amounts falling tonight".

This has caused parts of the city to go into shutdown mode. There are tons of closures and delays across not just Vancouver today, but in other parts of the province too.
Numerous schools have now been completely shut down in the city of Vancouver. The following schools are closed today because of the snow conditions.

- Saint Andrew’s Elementary School
- Our Lady of Sorrows

- St. George’s School
- Corpus Christi School
- Van Horne Elementary
- Notre Dame Regional Secondary School
- St. Patrick’s Regional Secondary School

Not only are schools closed down across the city, but there have been significant transit delays as well, and even shutdowns. Vancouver's Skytrain, The Expo line, is not operating between Columbia Station and Lougheed Station because of the weather, Translink announced in a tweet.
There is also a reduction in service on the Expo and Millennium line of the Skytrain. Translink warned commuters that there is expected to be delays and extra crowding on buses and trains today.

People have not been happy with all the transit delays across the city. Some have even taken to Twitter to complain. From the pictures they are sharing, you can see how intense the lineups are for transit in Vancouver today.

The YVR Airport in Vancouver is also reminding passengers to check their flight information beforehand and make sure to get there extra early because of the snowy weather. There have been several delayed and even canceled flights today at the Vancouver airport.

The City of Vancouver has also announced that they will not be collecting Green Bins today and tomorrow.

BC Ferries has cancelled several of their sailings because of the weather.

Canada Post has also announced that some Metro Vancouver residents would not be receiving mail today.
Weather conditions are impeding mail delivery in the Greater Vancouver Area, on Vancouver Island and the South Coast of BC. While every effort is being made to deliver the mail, some customers may not receive mail today. Delivery will resume once it's safe to do so.
Vancouverites have not exactly been enjoying some of the shutdowns and delays across the city. Many have taken to Twitter to talk about the snowy, cold weather in the city right now or to share photos or video of what a snow day looks like in Vancouver.

According to Environment Canada, the snow is not expected to let up in Vancouver until after Tuesday morning. Until then, brace yourselves Vancouverites, because the city will go into shutdown mode.
