'Tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to instill Christmas joy than by watching as many holiday movies as you can fit in a single night. There are tons of options on both Netflix and Disney+ with all sorts of stories and famous faces, and some with sequels perfect for a marathon. There's now another classic to add to that list because The Christmas Chronicles sequel is coming to Netflix Canada next year.

The original movie which came out in 2018 starred Kurt Russell as Santa Claus and Goldie Hawn as his wife.

The plot centred around siblings Kate and Teddy played by Darby Camp and Judah Lewis who go on an adventure attempting to catch Santa on film. They end up helping jolly old Saint Nick when his sleigh breaks down and he still has Christmas presents to deliver before the night is over.

Oliver Hudson and Kimberly Williams-Paisley played the kids' parents named Doug and Claire.

So far Russel and Hawn were confirmed to be returning by The Christmas Chronicles Instagram account.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Lewis and Camp will play siblings again, and Jahzir Bruno will play Jack.

Williams-Paisley confirmed her return on Twitter today.

According to What's Filming, production has been underway in Vancouver since October 21 and will go until February 1.

We'll be seeing more of Mrs. Claus, according to a Twitter user who wrote, "I received an early Christmas present this morning when I learned @goldiehawn leveraged her cameo as Mrs. Claus in The Christmas Chronicles into a leading role in next year's sequel! A Christmas miracle!"

The Christmas Chronicles was also filmed in Canada with locations across Toronto.

If you live in the Vancity area, keep your eyes peeled for the holiday-themed cast members. There's no set release date for the sequel but it should be sometime in winter 2020.
