These 4 Amazing BC Skiing And Snowboarding Resorts Are Opening This Month

Calling a powder shredders and snow bunnies, your favourite season of them all is back! And what better place to be in than British Columbia, home to some of the best ski and snowboarding mountains Mother Nature has to offer.

Though a few of our BC ski mountains may not be opening until early December, these four ski resorts will be opening at the end of this month to satisfy our impatience.

It's time to dust off that boarding gear and brush up on your skills. Your favourite mountains are back and so you can shred up some champagne powder.

Whistler Blackcomb

Where: 4545 Blackcomb Way // Whistler

Opening: Thursday, November 23 2017

Why you should go: Whistler is always a good idea.Named the best ski resort in North America, this ski town is only a two-hour drive from Vancouver and makes for the perfect day trip or weekend getaway. To celebrate the start of ski season, there will be a free winter kick-off event on Friday, November 24 with food trucks, live music, fire pits, and a beer garden.

Big White Ski Resort

Opening: Thursday, November 23 2017

Why you should go: Home to over 100 ski runs, Big White has been voted Canada's Best Family Park. With over 750 cm of fresh powder annually, a sick terrain park, an adventure centre that offers dog sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides, ice climbing, and more, you will have a huge variety of options at this winter wonderland. They'll also be hosting a free opening day event on Thursday, November 23 and will be giving free hot chocolate. Yes, please.

SilverStar Mountain Resort

Opening: Saturday, November 18 2017 for Nordic Opening and Thursday, November 23 2017 for Alpine Opening

Why you should go: Thousands of acres of skiable terrain and champagne powder make up SilverStar. It includes a vibrant mid-mountain village with ski-in, ski-out access to the slopes, and Canada’s first all-inclusive lift ticket for affordable fun. With four distinct mountain faces and 132 runs, there's something for everyone. For the experts, the backside of the mountain is an uncrowded paradise of over 1,900 acres of steep and deep, black and double black diamond runs. On December 8, they will also be hosting their annual SilverStar Christmas Light Up where the entire mid-mountain village will shine with Christmas lights and unforgettable fireworks.

Why you should go: Head on up northern BC and experience the driest, most shreddable powder conditions in Canada. This ski town has a Swiss Alpine theme that will transport you far away. With new upgrades made to lift systems, a trail that takes you right into town, and a big mountain vertival of 3,7775 ft, Hudson Bay Mountain will sweep you off your feet. They'll even be serving hot and saucey poutine on their opening day!
