This Hidden Restaurant Serves The Thickest, Fattest, And Longest Noodles In Vancouver

Winter is only about a month away and December is approaching even faster. What's the best way to cure the winter blues and warm up on a chilly afternoon? NOODLES!

When you live in Vancouver, you can pretty much drop into any noodle shop and be decently satisfied. From pho to ramen to Taiwanese beef noodle soup, Vancouver's got an entire spectrum of noodles to choose from. But there's one hidden restaurant that you may not have heard of that will definitely hit the spot for you this winter.

Tucked away in the East Van neighbourhood of Killarney is a little-known Xi An style restaurant called Old Xian's Food, and they are serving some of the thickest, fattest, and longest hand-pulled noodles you've ever seen in your life. If you don't believe us, you be the judge.

Their Biang Biang Noodles are hand-pulled and made fresh, stretched extra long and extra wide for your tasting pleasure. The best part about their noodles is that they're completely customizable. You can choose the type of noodle, the sauce, how spicy you like it, and your garnishes. You can get tomato and egg sauce or minced pork sauce, spicy and sour pork sauce or spicy vegetable sauce... ah, all the choices!

Though they are known for their noodles and noodle soups, it's not the only thing they do. They also serve delicious dumplings and Xi An-style "burgers", which are kind of like Chinese sloppy joes made with Chinese buns and a variety of meats.

The space itself may not be particularly fancy, but it resembles your low-key, casual neighbourhood noodle joint. If you're looking for some noodly comfort, you know where to go. Old Xian's Food is located at 3510 Kingsway, Burnaby and 1111-3779 Sexsmith Rd, Richmond. Open daily from 11:30AM to 9PM.
