This Canadian Woman Wants You To Pay Her To Scare Your Bad Kids Into Behaving In Public

Kids can be outrageous and sometimes there is no rationing with them. Things aren’t the way they used to be when we were young, children no longer fear getting scolded in public places. A Canadian woman has realized this and has started a business catering to parent's who want to teach their misbehaving kids a lesson. According to her online advertisements, you can pay this Canadian woman to pose as the boogeyman and she'll scare your kids into behaving. It’s both hilarious and brilliant all at the same time. 

According to a Reddit post, a Vancouver woman is advertising herself as a “boogeyman for hire.” The advertisement was originally posted on Craigs List; however, it has since been taken down. Thankfully, nothing posted on the internet is gone forever and a Reddit user has decided to share the screen grab with all of us. 

In the post, there is a lengthy description of what the job would look like. The woman and entrepreneur starts off her advertisement by saying that she understands how difficult it is to deal with a whining child when you’re doing basic tasks. She also understands the trouble in quieting down your little one without making a scene. Thankfully, this woman is here to make the scene for you.

Her job basically relies on kids being scared straight. Although a crazy idea, she thinks it could work. “A discreet way to get your child to behave is to whisper to them the story of the boogeyman.” 

She described the boogeyman as a mythical creature used by adults to frighten children into good behaviour. The boogeyman has no specific appearance, so essentially this 5’5” female could be the monster hiding under your bed or around the corner. 

Basically, it would work like this. The undisclosed female would meet with the parent or guardian and both would agree and consent to the services. They would then sign a waiver stating that she would not be held liable for anything that happens. She also states that she will not kidnap your kids. What a sigh of relief. 

After the parents and the woman meet, they will discuss the child's reoccurring bad public behaviour. Depending on the needs, both parties will discuss one or two things that need to be corrected. 

A boogeyman myth will then be created by the parents. She uses the example of “if you don’t quite down, other people will scold you.” Age is apparently taken into account as they want to "scare, not scar the child." Every detail will be discussed, even the appearance of the boogeyman.

The actual execution of the scaring will be different for each client. She is willing to either wait until the child misbehaves, or follow a few feet behind the family and wait for the opportunity. 

There is no set price or hourly rate for the service. The dollar value would be negotiated between the boogeyman and the parents. 

Reddit thinks this is a hilarious idea and we agree. Some are thinking that it could actually work. Others have noted that their childhood disciplining has scared them, so a little boogyman tactic can’t be that bad.
