A Woman Was Spotted Driving An SUV Down A Staircase And Canadian's Can't Handle It

Driving and maneuvering a vehicle takes a particular set of skills, and like many other things, some people are better at it than others. For example, most people know to stay on the road but a Vancouver woman who drove an SUV down a staircase apparently isn't one of them. While for some people, operating a vehicle can be nerve-wracking and challenging, this driver really went above and beyond, beyond the road that is. 

The woman took 'off-roading' to a whole new level when she tried to drive her SUV down a steep set of stairs at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver on Friday morning.

A video of the incident, which was captured by a member of the public, has been shared all over social media and some of the responses to the footage are pretty funny.

The whole bizarre situation was captured on video by Ian Lampman, who shared the video on Facebook with the caption, “So this just happened while sitting at work.” According to Lampman, the woman in the SUV drove straight past the signs for the Wall Centre’s parking lot, and subsequently started driving down the stairs towards Hornby Street.

In the video, the woman can be seen attempting to navigate the vehicle down the stairs, before opening the door while halfway down. Lampman told Global News that when the lady stopped, “She yelled stuff out and then continued to drive down the stairs.”

He added, “ I thought she was crazy and could have seriously hurt or killed someone.”

Incredibly, the woman eventually managed to drive the vehicle down the stairs, to the sidewalk. In the video, a number of bumps and scrapes can be heard as the car's undercarriage knocks against the pavement. Thankfully, nobody is believed to have been injured or hurt.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the hotel's staircase, as Lampman reports the stairs were left damaged from the woman’s off-road adventure.

As videos that showed the off-roading incident circulated on social media, some people took to Twitter to make some pretty witty remarks. One user wrote, “This is the most Vancouver thing I've ever seen.” While another added, “Blame @googlemaps.”

Vancouver police confirmed that their traffic unit is investigating an incident in which a woman drove an SUV down some stairs.
