Canada’s Largest Winter Festival Is Finally Coming To Vancouver This Week

Lose yourself in a Mystical World of winter.

Filled with light sculptures, rides, games and magical characters — Vancouver's Aurora Winter Festival is shaping up to be one of the most fun holiday events in the city this year. It's about to finally open Friday, November 22 and if you love fairytales and the storybook magic of the holidays, then you can't miss out.

When we first heard that Aurora would be coming back for a 2019/2020 season, we were excited because they announced that it would be four times larger than its first year.

Fan favourite features from last year are back including the massive 200-foot tube slide.

Plus, with the event being almost four times larger than last year, expect there to be even more games and rides. Aurora is even calling it Canda's largest winter festival.

There's also going to be a Christmas Market, skating rink, dozens of giant light displays and a ton of cute and fun wintery activities.

This year, there are four mystical worlds that will each transport you into a different magical winter world.

There's a part called the Luminous Gardens where you'll see trees and plants made of lights like giant weeping willows.

Its the massive tube slide that can't be missed because we don't have anything like this in Vancouver and it's an excuse to feel like a kid again.

This event is one of the few festive places to go that isn't Christmas-centric or overly traditional, too.

Another fun place to go that's unique this holiday season is the Bloedel Conservatory because they're having a Festivale Tropicale event that's like Christmas in Hawaii.

Another part of Aurora called the Whimsical Forest will be like a Fairyland crossed with Candyland filled with animals, a Gnome Village and a Fairy Hollow.

It looks a little bit like the Dr. Seuss-inspired maze that's coming to Seattle soon.

Whether you go with a date or with a group of your closest Holiday-crazy friends, you're going to have a seriously fun and magical time.
