Science World is turning 30 this month and you're invited to their birthday! In honour of Science World's 30th anniversary this May since it opened to the public officially in 1989, this edition of their adults-only after-hours event will be 80's themed and we have it on good authority that it will be "totally rad" and the best nerd party this spring.

Party-goers are encouraged to show up in their finest (or tackiest) '80s look and there's even a contest for best-dressed! So go ahead, channel your favourite John Hughes movie and put up your permed hair in a side ponytail with a scrunchie. You don't need to wait until Halloween to dress up as your favourite '80s pop icon so Maddona and Boy George lookalikes are all welcome.

Science World was originally built for the 1986 World Expo in Vancouver and its iconic geodesic dome has been a staple of our skyline ever since. There's actually nothing inside the massive dome except the OMNIMAX® Theatre which is five storeys tall and the largest in the world!

The next Science World After Dark is happening on Thursday, May 16 from 7 PM to 10 PM with an OMNIMAX® film at 6 PM. Tickets are $28 before Monday, May 6 and $34 after. If you want to see the film, then tickets are an additional $6.50. There will be wine, beer and refreshments for sale and for nostalgia's sake you can eat at the Whitespot Triple O's until 9 PM.

Famous scientists have graced Vancouver with their presence at Science World like Stephen Hawking and Jane Goodall. Science World was even visited by Queen Elizabeth II in 1987! It's amazing to look at these retro photos and see how much everything has changed since the '80s, especially the hair.
