Vancouver's VanDusen Botanical Garden Has A Magical Tunnel Of Bright Yellow Blossoms

It's not spring in Vancouver without a trip to the VanDusen Botanical Garden. This place is loved by everyone, including local celebs from Seth Rogan to Canucks' Elias Pettersson, and for good reason. In May, the stunning Laburnum Walk in the garden will bloom, creating a tunnel of bright yellow blossoms that will take your breath away.

Even though we're partial to cherry blossoms, once you see how spectacular the laburnum are you'll forget all about the puffy pink and white trees.

VanDusen's Laburnum Walk is a path crowned by a golden arch of yellow blossoms. The towering trees create a canopy of green and yellow that's like nothing else in the city.

You definitely have to plan a visit to the garden in May when the yellow laburnum, or golden chain trees, will be in bloom.

May is the most popular time to visit the garden, a rep told Narcity, partly because that's when you'll get to see the most colour.

Laburnum trees "produce dense yellow flowers that hang down above the path," said VanDusen's rep. To transport you even more into wonderland, the path is lined with purple Allium flowers.

There's also a Rhododendron Walk that will take you through tons of brightly coloured flowering bushes at their best in May.

In late winter, the garden is full of snowdrops, hellebores, and crocuses.

As it starts to get warmer moving into March and April, you can find rhododendrons, magnolias and cherry trees blooming.

You'll have to wait until June though to catch the rose gardens in bloom. They look their best during the summer.

To see the yellow tunnel at its finest, you need to visit when they flowers are in bloom. When the blossoms start to fall, they carpet the path in yellow and it's incredible to see.

These trees will bloom for only two weeks in May. You can check out the garden's bloom calendar to find out what's in season and it's super helpful for planning your visit.
