We Brought 30 Grams Of Legal Weed Online In BC And This Is What Happened

Weed enthusiasts in BC were lining up outside retail locations which opened their doors for the first time this morning, to get a first chance at buying legal cannabis. Hours before though, BC also launched its official online site for buying legal weed in Canada.

Buying legal recreational weed online is uncharted territory for everyone in BC and other Canadians across the nation as well. That's why we decided to order weed online so we could share everything that we learned to make it easier for you!

The legal age for consuming and purchasing cannabis in BC is 19-years-old. To first thing you do when you go to the BC Cannabis Stores website is to enter your birthday, though this is the only way they verify your age while purchasing.

They do however check your ID when delivering your package via Canada Post and also if you purchase in-store at a physical retail location.

Once you're in, the site looks exactly like any other online retailer. The products are grouped into four different categories: Dried flowers, pre-rolled, oil and capsules, and accessories.

There is also another special category that is specifically for products with high CBD content, which is the main ingredient in medicinal marijuana.

Once you get into actually shopping, the best way to describe it would be as user-friendly. While in other provinces you can only sort by THC or CBD contents, here you can filter your searches by the brands, types, and even the region it's grown in.

What's more, you can also sort by prices low to high and vice versa, as well as sorting by what's selling the best, a handy feature if you're a first-time buyer who wants to know what other people are buying to help advise your own purchases.

The prices range a little bit among the best selling products, but in general, most of them tend to cost anywhere from approximately $6.99-$10, although those prices are before taxes. Not only are the prices displayed on the main products page, but also a label letting you know which ones are running out of stock to let you know to act quickly.

You can learn even more information once you actually click on a product. Not only do you get the price and THC/CBD contents, but also information on how and where the plant was grown and even how it was harvested.

What's interesting about BC Cannabis Store's website, and different from other provinces' sites is that at the bottom of the page, it also recommends other dried-flower and cannabis products to shoppers that are similar to the one they are looking at. This could be a handy feature, however, if your desired product happens to sold out.

Unfortunately, one feature that's missing from BC's site is that they don't let you track how many grams you have out of 30 as you go. This feature has been seen on other provincial websites across Canada. This would be really helpful since 30 is the maximum number of grams you are allowed to purchase at one time, and it could be very easy to exceed that limit while shopping.

They do tell you what your total is in the order summary when you go to your cart to checkout, but by that point, you would have to decide what to part with in order to complete your purchase.

Which brings us to the actual ordering part. Again, you have to check another box confirming that you're legal age to purchase weed and then you are taken to the confirmation pages. Our subtotal before taxes was $226 for 30 grams of the best selling weed.

This is where they collect your personal information, i.e. your email address and shipping address. Then you have to choose a shipping option, even though there is only one, which by the way costs a whopping $10. After that, the final step is to put in your payment information, which can be a VISA, Mastercard, or American Express. After all the taxes and shipping fees our final total was $265.37.

While other provinces like Ontario and Quebec have return policies in place to allow anyone to return unopened weed within 14 days of purchase, this isn't the case in BC. There you can only return weed if it is recalled, mouldy, or otherwise damaged upon arrival.

Anyone who orders weed from the BC Cannabis Store will be waiting anywhere from 1-5 days for delivery. With a Canada Post strike possibly starting on Monday that wait could get even longer. If you're eager to get your hands on some legal weed before that, your best bet is to go buy it in store.
