Who Will Be The New Vancouver Canucks Captain Because Twitter Has Theories

Everyone's been wondering who will be the new Vancouver Canucks captain and the answer is coming. At the home opener for the 2019-2020 season on Wednesday, October 9, the Canucks will name their new captain. Twitter is full of guesses, conspiracy theories and bets about who the new captain will be and it's hilarious.

The Canucks have gone an entire season without a captain and that's finally about to change. Bo Horvat has been the favourite to be named captain but it's by no means a done deal.

According to the National Post, the head coach for the Canucks, Travis Green, confirmed that they will name a captain this season at the home game on October 9. The home opener will be played against the Los Angeles Kings. If you only go to see one Canucks game this season, this could be the game to watch!

An original tweet from the official Canucks account named Alex Edler, Chris Tanev, Brandon Sutter and Bo Horvat with a colourful letter "A" highlighted in each of their names. Will they be assistant captains? Does this confirm them as candidates or rule them out?

Keep your eyes out for any future free Canucks ticket deals like we saw in the pre-season. Here are some of the most hilarious tweets and head-scratching theories about the soon-to-be-named new Canucks captain:

One theory that has us scratching our heads is that the captaincy could be shared.

Other people are simply convinced that it'll be Bo Horvat announced. "If someone other than Bo Horvat is named captain of the canucks this season, I will eat a beanie baby" read one tweet.

Even Roberto Luongo chimed in on Twitter. "Look what I found when I zoomed out a little," reads the tweet. Luongo is added on to the original photo in a not-so-skillful photoshop job. This led to even more tweets.

Will it be the coach?

Even YVR chimed in with a jab.

Elias Pettersson had a Captain America transformation over the summer and some fans on Twitter are saying that he needs to be the one to wear the "C".
