When you think of the brand Victoria's Secret, you probably think of the Victoria's Secret Angels right away. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show happens every year where you can see famous models as well as up and coming models walk the runway in their over the top lingerie. Every so often, new Angels come on board and join the rest of the VS Angels. However, this year, Victoria's Secret thinks "diversity" means an angel with wider hips and red hair and fans are so upset

VS has become a brand that is super controversial. Back in the day, we would hear that the Angels would do juice cleanses for a few days leading up to the show so they would be as lean as possible. Right before the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show aired in November, Chief Marketing Officer of VS Ed Razek sat down for an interview and basically tore apart the company right then and there.

In an interview for Vogue, he was asked why there were no plus-size or transgender models. His response? "If you’re asking if we’ve considered putting a transgender model in the show or looked at putting a plus-size model in the show, we have. Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is." Fans rolled their eyes and started boycotting the store. So much so that Victoria's Secret is actually shutting down 53 of their stores in North America

READ MORE: People Are Calling Barbara Palvin The First 'Plus-Size' VS Angel And Twitter Is Not Having It

It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Barbara Palvin and Alexina Graham were going to be the new VS Angels. There were so many mixed reviews, but most of them were not good. See, Victoria's Secret thinks they're being 'diverse' by bringing on the first ever red headed Angel and, get this, a model who has a 24-inch waist. Diversity, eh? As you can imagine, fans are so upset by this and are even saying that the models haven't worked hard enough for this spot.

You can view some of the angry tweets below:

where are your models of colour? you have 2 WOC in a line up of 15-some models and this is the model you choose to sign? do better. this is grossly disappointing.

I love Barbara, but she’s too good for VS. Please tell me you aren’t using her to prove your “body inclusivity”

March 14, 2019

Didn’t you guys basically “cancel” her for a long period bc she didn’t have the typical “VS” body??? She’s gorgeous but your company doesn’t sit well w people anymore.

So many tweets and Instagram comments are basically begging for diversity, even though for Victoria's Secret, this may be all we get. While VS is a brand that has never really followed the trends, if they want to keep more of their stores open, I think it's time that they start keeping up with the times.
