Viking Cruises for the Great Lakes are coming in 2022, and you'll be able to hop aboard without leaving the county. You can sail through the entire Great Lakes region and see the beautiful sights that the area has to offer.The cruise ship is currently under construction, according to the press release. It will be able to hold 378 guests in 189 staterooms and will be called Viking Octantis.
The ships will be roughly 200 meters long, according to CBC.The Viking Octantis will be ready to go in January 2022, but booking is already available to reserve online.
They will travel between Toronto and Milwaukee, according to Fox Business, "with stops at Niagara Falls, Point Pelee on Lake Erie in Ontario, Detroit, Alpena and Mackinac Island."One cool thing about this tour is that scientists will be joining in "to conduct research focused on changes in the region’s weather, climate and ecosystems," according to the press release. There will even be a laboratory on board, which guests will have supervised access to.They will also be giving lectures about the Great Lakes' environment to guests onboard. So you can go on vacation and learn a thing or two about the Great Lakes while you're there.
Along with the educational experience, you will also be able to unwind at their Nordic Spa, the Aquavit Terrace and Pools, in the Explorer's Lounge, and many more. There will also be a Nordic Balcony with a sunroom and a wildlife observatory while at sea.
So get ready to take a cruise on the Great Lakes on an eight-day excursion that will have you relaxing while also learning lots about this gorgeous, underrepresented region. Start saving though, because the cruise will cost you anywhere from $6,495 per person.
