A TikTok Star Was The First Canadian Ever To Get A Golden Ticket On ‘American Idol’

Fresh talent coming up! Canadian Vivian Hicks' American Idol audition earned her a golden ticket from the judges. Her performance didn't get to air but her social media has tons of videos for you to fall for.
The 16-year-old from Georgetown, Ontario has earned herself quite the following online, especially on TikTok where she has 1.3 million followers.
On her verified Instagram account she announced to her 385,000 followers that she made it through her audition all the way to Hollywood.
Hicks wrote, "I’m going to Hollywood!! Even though my audition for American Idol will not be airing, I’m so proud of myself for taking this huge step and for being the first Canadian in history to ever receive a golden ticket! I’ve met so many amazing artists and created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime! Thank you to my team, family, friends, and all my fans for the ongoing support. It’s not over yet! We’re just getting started. Love you all xoxo".
Cinema Blend claims that the reason her audition didn't air "isn't immediately clear". We may get to see her on our screens during the first round of eliminations.
Hicks stands with the likes of 16-year-old Lauren Spencer Smith from Vancouver Island. She blew the judges away and also earned herself a spot in Hollywood during her episode last week.
In October, Hicks first announced that she would be auditioning for the competition series.
Then on November 9, she shared a photo of her preparing to sing writing, "Getting mic’d up for my @americanidol audition!! I’m so excited and totally nervous to sing for these iconic judges!! I’m still in total awe that I’ve been given this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait to share more as time progresses!"
The teenage TikTok star wouldn't be complete with a video montage. In late November, she shared clips of her at the American Idol studio, including one of her in front of a wall of golden tickets.
Over on her YouTube channel, Hick has nearly 54,000 subscribers and almost 200 videos that she's been posting since 2008.
Her very first video posted by her mother was Hicks singing "Oh Canada" at just four-years-old.
Her most-watched video with over 700,000 views is an original song called "#DISS" that was posted in September 2016.
Social media isn't the only place where Hicks has made her mark.
According to The Loop, she actually auditioned for The Launch two years ago.
The Loop wrote that "She made it to the final two and was coached by none other than living legend Shania Twain for the final showdown between her and Logan Staats. Vivian ultimately came in second."
The Launch is produced by CTV and is currently in its second season. It features mentors including Bebe Rexha, Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, and Bryan Adams.
Hicks' profile from season one states that she is a "Singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and model" who "began singing at age 2 and taking dance lessons at 3."
Back in 2014, she "toured and recorded with Mini Pop Kids" when she was just 11-years-old.
You can follow Vivian Hicks' journey on season 18 of American Idol every Sunday at 8 p.m and in between episodes on her popping TikTok account.
