UPDATE: Winnipeg's Water Lantern festival has been cancelled.

EARLIER: If you're looking for a visual feast on your night out, you're in luck! A spectacular water lantern festival in Winnipeg is coming next month. This magical event is your chance to see thousands of glowing lanterns float across the water.

The Water Lantern Festival is similar to the floating lantern festivals in Asia. It's a stunning event that has been touring across Canada, U.S.A., and Mexico. Here in Canada, it will be stopping by in Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Mississauga, Ottawa, Montreal, and Winnipeg.

In Winnipeg, the Water Lantern Festival will take place at The Forks National Historic Site of Canada. The festival is scheduled for Sep. 14, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

At the event, you'll get the chance to decorate your lantern before you release it on the water. Everyone is encouraged to write messages of their wishes or happy memories on their paper lantern to personalize it.

The Water Lantern Festival says there will be over 1000 paper lanterns floating out! All the soft flickering lanterns on the water promises to be a sight you'll never forget.

And there's so much more to the event than just lanterns! In addition to photographing and decorating your floating lanterns, you can check out the music, games, and food trucks.

You'll want to buy your tickets now before they sell out. Tickets to the event are $38.99 until Aug. 31. On the day of the event, tickets will cost $50. Included in the price of your ticket are access to the festival, a lantern to decorate, a marker, a drawstring bag, and wristband.
