A Black Bear Moved Into A Tree In Winnipeg & Has Been Named "Charlie The Bear"

Another day, another animal on the loose. The Winnipeg bear roaming around a residential neighbourhood has been dubbed "Charlie The Bear" and he's just been chilling in a tree. Crews are working to get him back to the wild safely!
At about 9:50 a.m. CT in Winnipeg, police officers were called because of a bear sighting in the area.
Cst. Rob Carver told Global News the mature black bear has been up and down a bunch of trees and even went into someone's yard.
People are being asked to avoid the area of Pepperloaf Crescent near Rannock Avenue until it's safe.
"We want to make sure everyone is safe," Carver said.
This curious creature had been roaming through the neighbourhood before climbing high up a tree for some rest and relaxation.
Carver told the CBC that this the first call of this kind that Winnipeg Police has gotten this spring as far as he knows.
"It's dangerous. It's a full-size bear, so we've got officers there for this reason," he said.
Winnipeg Police tweeted that since the animal is still staying in a tree on private property, Manitoba Conservation had taken over the scene at around 2:09 p.m. local time.

On Twitter, someone who witnessed the animal's adventure posted pictures of it up in a tree and of police officers looking up at it.
Because it was spotted in the Charleswood area, he gave it the name Charlie.
He also tweeted that this sighting is a first for him in 14 years.
Well if Charleswood didn't seem cottage country enough, we now have bears. Meet Charlie The Bear. He's taken refuge… https://t.co/1v6nzqfhC9— Tyler Walsh (@Tyler Walsh) 1590853479
Manitoba Conservation officials were spotted at the residential property with a trap for the animal.
Adult black bears in Canada are usually between 4 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 9 inches so this is no small visitor.
Earlier in the week, a black bear was on the loose in Barrie, Ontario and another one was spotted in Markham, Ontario.
