Wolfdog Sanctuary In Alberta Lets You Answer The Call Of The Wild

Are you always sending adorable animal photos to your friends? If so, we found a cuteness overload experience you need to add to your bucket list. There is a wolfdog sanctuary in Alberta where you can visit a friendly pack of animals and join the pack just for the day.

The Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is a non-profit organization, only 45-minutes from Calgary. This is the only rescue of its kind in Canada and they give abandoned wolf and dog hybrids a safe home.

They also offer opportunities for you to see the gorgeous animals up close.

The most popular activity is the interactive tour, which is sure to fill animal-lovers with joy.

You'll get the chance to meet two different groups of incredible animals. For your visit, you'll get a handful of treats and might be able to get one to eat right from your hands.

The sanctuary told Narcity in an email that their enrichment activities are "a great opportunity for guests to speak with a wolfdog expert and possibly even get involved with the activities."

As a guest, you could be invited to feed the animals, or assist the trainer and get the animals to sit.

In order not to scare the animals, you'll be asked to remain seated unless the guide tells you otherwise. It will be up to each one to decide how close they want to come to ensure their happiness.

On the 45 minute tour, you'll be able to capture tons of cute photos that you'll want to post on social media. There won't be any fence between you and the beasts, allowing you to get some epic photographs.

To join, you'll need to make a reservation several weeks in advance, as space is limited.

The tour runs four times a day and is $58 a person. Included in that price is the Sanctuary Walk and introduction tour, which you can do before or after.

If you don't want to make a reservation, you can opt for the Sanctuary Walk instead. It is just $26 per person and grants you general admission.

You'll get the chance to explore the massive facilities and the exterior of the enclosures.

The activities change every month and often have a seasonal or holiday theme. For details on what the current events are, you'll want to check their Facebook page.
