Usually, Canadians like to warm up after skating with a nice cup of hot chocolate. At one Ontario skating trail though, they are swapping the hot chocolate for wine.

At Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, in Bala, Ontario you can skate on their 1.2-kilometre ice trail that surrounds 12 acres of cranberry beds. The best part is that when you're done, you can warm up with a glass of their local wine.

The winery's ice skating trail winds through cranberry beds on one side and Northern Ontario's beautiful forests on the other. The trail also goes by a waterfall on the property and features a nice outdoor firepit. Every Saturday night, the winery also lights the skating trail with torches from 6 to 9 PM.

The ice trail isn't the only skating experience the winery offers. They also have a cranberry bog Hockey Acre. The bog rink is specially designed for kids, pick-up hockey games, and parents with strollers or toboggans.

Of course, it's not just about the skating. The winery also invites people to warm up with a glass of mulled wine, made from a cranberry-blueberry wine and a mulled spice blend. They also have a hot cranberry-apple cider if you're not old enough or not looking to get tipsy.

You don't have to worry about going hungry either because the winery also has a winter menu to try out with your wine or cider. They have a number of great dishes on the menu including a cheese platter to pair with your wine, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a selection of soups.

The Muskoka Lake Farm and Winery skate trail is due to open on December 27th, though that is completely weather dependent. It costs $10 for a skating pass and skate rentals if needed are another $10. As for the drinks, their mulled wine is only $7 for a glass and the cider is only $2.50.
