“You” Has Officially Been Renewed For A Third Season

The good news for big fans of one of the creepiest shows on Netflix is that Joe Golberg's story won't end after the second season. Most viewers barrelled through season two when it dropped on Boxing Day, and You season three is officially coming to Netflix in 2021 which means there is quite a wait.

News of the renewal dropped earlier today, though the show's star accidentally let it slip two weeks ago that we'd be seeing more of him.

The first season premiered on Lifetime in September 2018 and the story was based on a 2014 novel of the same name written by Caroline Kepnes.

The second season became a Netflix Original, giving them quite a bit more freedom for darkness and horror, and was only loosely based on the 2016 sequel novel called Hidden Bodies.

If you've ever stopped to wonder who would play a better stalker and serial killer than Penn Badgley, it feels like he really does it best. 

Viewers fell in love with Beck (played by Elizabeth Lail) just as quickly as Joe did. So when Love (Victoria Pedretti) came around, it was an interesting breath of fresh air. 

According to The Wrap, Badgley and Pedretti "will reprise their roles as Joe and his love interest, Love Quinn, respectively for Season 3, which will consist of 10 episodes." They continued, writing that "Additional casting news will be announced at a later date."

The series was created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, and The Wrap confirmed that both individuals will return as co-creators.

Unfortunately, since Joe is notorious for murder, there are quite a few familiar faces we won't be seeing back. Unless the creators introduce ghost characters, Beck, Benji (Lou Taylor Pucci), and Shay Mitchell's character Peach from season one are all pretty much gone from the series.

Chris D'Elia's character Henderson in season two was also dead the last time we saw him.

That means there are even more misadventures that Joe can get himself into in the third season. Perhaps he'll even come back with a more unique fake name than Will Bettelheim. 

The You Instagram account posted a video announcing the news but all it gives away is "New Year, New You, You S3".
