Narcity is looking to work with motivated and experienced freelance writers to contribute to our editorial team, with a focus on those based in one of the following markets:We are seeking storytellers with experience writing SEO-focused content who are excited to create engaging and relatable stories for Narcity.com, catering to Gen Z and Millennial audiences with a focus on our core topics of Travel, Food & Drink, Things To Do, Real Estate, and Entertainment/Lifestyle.

We’re looking for writers with a strong network of sources, a knack for finding unique local angles and a record of publishing original, exclusive, or timely stories while being equally passionate about producing evergreen, search-focused content.

We’re looking for writers who can contribute on a regular basis and publish a range of story types, from lists and exclusive features/interviews to personal essays and opinion pieces.

We’re seeking original pitches from published writers with clear and distinctive voices who aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of their storytelling. Our freelancers should be open to pitching ideas as well as receiving assignments on a regular basis.

Who Can Pitch?

We invite pitches from all members of our community with relevant published work, including writers from equity-deserving backgrounds. If you have a big idea or a worthwhile experience to share, we want to hear all about it!

How Do I Pitch?

Please write to pitches@narcitymedia.com with the following:
  • 3-10 story ideas targeted toward Narcity readers, including:
    • Proposed headlines (make sure to familiarize yourself with how we do headlines at Narcity)
    • A few sentences on each idea, including what makes the article original/unique, who you would speak to, who your sources would be, etc.
  • Your key beats, topic expertise and vision for this potential collaboration with Narcity
  • At least 3 links to previously published work that showcases this topic authority
  • An updated CV (follow this link to learn how to convert your resume into a PDF)
  • Links to your social media handles to help us get a sense of your voice, personality and willingness/ability to distribute content created for Narcity on your own personal channels (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
  • Your availability (how many pieces per week/month are you able to contribute?)

What Happens After I Send In My Pitches?

If your pitches aren't in line with what we're currently looking for, we'll aim to provide some feedback for future pitches wherever we can.

If we love your pitches, our Editors will be in touch with you to arrange a paid trial assignment.

After the trial assignment is received, our Editors will let you know whether we'd like to move forward with a Freelancer Agreement to work with you on a recurring basis. If yes, you'll be fully Onboarded as a Narcity Freelance Writer!

Does Narcity Pay Freelancers?

Of course! We compensate freelance writers for all submitted pieces. Rates will be agreed upon when a pitch is accepted depending on the article and the amount of work involved.

Narcity follows Net60 Payment terms — instructions for invoicing and payments will be shared accordingly, following the successful completion of the contracting process.
