Summers are about escaping the city heat and heading quaint beach towns. Sand, swimming, and sun — it's the recipe for a perfect getaway.
This spot in B.C. is the place to get it all, with sparkling lakes, rolling vineyards, and beach town vibes. In a recent poll on the Narcity Canada Facebook Group, Kelowna was named as one of the best summer beach towns to visit in the country. It's actually a city set in the Okanagan Valley of B.C. — a region known for its picturesque vineyards and sunny weather.
While having a lot of city amenities, Kelowna maintains a beach town feel thanks to it's local businesses, sandy shores, and surrounding nature.
A trip here is a little bit of everything. You can spend the day relaxing on the lakeside beaches, like Boyce-Gyro Beach Park or Hot Sands Beach.
If you're up for a little adventure though you can head out on the hiking trails and explore the unique nature of the area. Not far away you'll find Canada's only desert in Osoyoos — which is about an hour and a half away from the city.
All around the area are beautiful wineries where you can sip the drink that the area is famous for. Mission Hill is a popular one right in Kelowna, with stunning views.
Right in the city there's lots to do too, with cute shops, art galleries, and lots of tasty restaurants. The farmers' market here also runs every Saturday and Wednesday so you can go and check out the local offerings.
