A recent study by online real estate marketplace Point2Homes revealed the average rent costs in Canada's 100 most populous cities.
According to the study, this historic destination, located 3 and a half hours from Ottawa, has the lowest rental costs, with tenants paying under $800 a month on average.
The city is situated along the St. Lawrence river and is full of restaurants, art galleries, cafes and museums to enjoy.
Trois-Rivières in Quebec is the place to be if you're looking for cheap rent in Canada. According to Point2Homes, the average rent in the city is $745 a month, making it less than half of Toronto's average rent, which is $1,845 per month.
The community is "second oldest French-speaking city in North America," according to the website and is known as the country's "cultural capital."
There's lots to enjoy in the city, from taking in the historic views at Old Trois-Rivières to exploring the The Musée POP! and wandering along the scenic waterfront.
Trois-Rivières was also ranked the fourth best Canadian city for renters in 2024, with St. John's coming in at number one.
The city with highest rent in Canada was the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, with the average rent costing $2,332 per month.
