This stunning city is known as the "cherry blossom capital of Canada," transforming the streets into a sea of pink and white in the spring. If you visit at the right time, you'll be greeted with thousands of blooming trees, bringing vibrant colour to the city.
Vancouver has cherry blossom trees scattered across the city, with some of the most picturesque streets during the season. Just wandering around in April and May you're bound to get incredible views of the blossoms.
While the cherry blossom season varies each year, it usually lasts from late March into April — so plan a visit to the West Coast then if you want to experience them at their peak.
According to Cycle City, Vancouver's known as Canada's cherry blossom capital thanks to it's many trees (over 40,000!), and there's lots of places to take them in.
While the height of the season is coming to an end now, cherry blossoms are still blooming around the city. Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival says that the "'Shiro-fugen' trees are one of the last to bloom, and the flowers are one of the longest-lasting."
Depending on where you go in the city and the kind of trees, there are a range of peak bloom dates. Luckily there's a map online that can show you where to see the blooms, and gives you the peak dates for each.
