Set in the Canadian Badlands, Drumheller is surrounded by breathtaking canyons and the iconic hoodoos, and it prides itself on its dino-filled history.
The small town is just an hour and a half away from Calgary, but it feels like you've escaped into another world as you drive through the area. Hikes nearby will take you through sprawling canyons and massive hoodoos.
Horseshoe Canyon sits just outside of town, and it will immerse you in the landscape. You can walk onto the canyon floor here and take in the ancient rock, from either the viewing platforms or by following the hike through the U-shaped canyon.
Willow Creek Hoodoos are yet another place to explore, just 15 minutes from town.
While the surrounding nature is incredible, the town itself has a lot to offer too. The first thing you might notice here is the massive T-Rex statue, which is known as the "World's Largest Dinosaur," and stands at 25 meters tall.
Drumheller is actually known as the "Dinosaur Capital of the World," and the Royal Tyrrell Museum is where you can learn more about the past.
The museum has a massive display of dinosaurs and exhibits to help you step into the prehistoric time that the town is known for.
