I Tried Tim Hortons Mini Egg Treats For The First Time & Here's Why I Won't Order Them Again

I love Cadbury Mini Eggs and I also love a good Tim Hortons snack, so with the return of seasonal Cadbury Mini Eggs Dream Donut and the Cadbury Mini Eggs Cookies to the store, I knew it was time to get my hands on them to see if they live up to the expectations.
I picked up the treats at my local store in the west end of Toronto and the first thing I noticed was how aesthetically pleasing they were, with the donut in particular looking like it belongs on Instagram. Their appearance had me super excited to give them a try... and, well, their appearance is likely the best thing about them, if I'm being perfectly honest.
Here's what I thought about the two latest menu items at Tim Hortons.
The Cadbury Mini Eggs Cookies
Tim Hortons Mini Egg Cookie.
Tim Hortons' cookies aren't my usual go-to menu item, but I do have fond memories of them from my high school days.
The Mini Egg Cookie falls solidly into the "meh" category for me, particularly when compared to their Dream line of cookies which are decadent treats (shout out to the Chocolate Lava Dream Cookie, that one is just perfection).
The cookie itself is nothing special as it tasted like a fairly mediocre chocolate chunk cookie, and while the addition of the Mini Eggs added some nice texture in terms of crunch, they didn't do a whole lot to elevate the flavour as it was just more of the same chocolate flavour being added in.

Tim Hortons Cadbury Mini Eggs Dream Donut.
While the Mini Egg Cookie was made better by the eggs, I think the Mini Eggs Dream Donut is likely better without the eggs.
The donut itself is delicious — it tastes just like the sprinkle donut I used to get from Timmies as a kid with its sweet vanilla flavour and the crunch from the topping, but the eggs aren't adding much.
The chocolate flavour of the eggs is lost against the intense sweetness that the donut brings, and the crunch of them isn't bringing anything texture-wise that the sprinkles aren't already doing.
As well, each time I got a bite with an egg in it I was preoccupied with accidentally choking on it as it immediately frees itself from the pastry once it's in your mouth, so overall, this one's also a miss for me.
But look at how pretty it is!
The verdict
Tim Hortons Cadbury Mini Eggs Dream Donut and the Cadbury Mini Eggs Cookie.
I wouldn't personally spend my own money on either of these things again, but if they were given to me I'd eat them with no problem and say thank you — there are just other treats out there that are more deserving!
For instance, one of my new favourites is the Walnut Crunch Donut that Tim Hortons brought back as part of their 60th birthday celebration.
Like the Mini Egg treats, the Retro Donuts are only available for a limited time, so if you want to get your hands on any of them you'll have to get them before they're gone!
