A BC spot with sprawling flower fields was dubbed one of the best places to visit this spring
Flowers are starting to bloom, the sun is shining, and day trips away from the city are calling. Nothing beats spending a warm spring day surrounded by sprawling farmland, colourful blooms, and breathtaking views.
All of that's in the Fraser Valley, an area just outside of Vancouver that locals have recently dubbed one of the best places in B.C. to visit during the spring. People on the Narcity Canada Facebook page shared all of the top destinations to explore this season, and the Fraser Valley was a favourite.
It's particularly stunning in the springtime, when endless rows of tulips and other flowers add a beautiful vibrancy to the landscape.
Depending on which part of the region you're exploring, it's about an hour or two hour drive from the city. It makes the perfect day trip, since you can hop from farm to farm, taking in the beautiful views.
The Fraser Valley is known for it's rolling farmlands, quaint communities, artisan offerings, and tranquil nature. It's not just the flowers here that are worth seeing, although they're a big draw in the spring and summer months.
The bigger communities here include Langley, Chilliwack, Harrison, Abbotsford and Mission. Each has it's own vibe, local businesses and things to do — but they all have the beauty of the area in common.
The Harrison Tulip Festival is one of the most popular destinations here in the spring, known for its expansive tulip field. It's set in the small city of Agassiz, and has 12 million tulips that you can walk among.
There's also Abbotsford Tulip Festival, at Lakeland Flowers, which also has a stunning display of blooms.
Maan Farms in Abbotsford is a go-to for berry picking in the summer, and this year they have a tulip forest to explore.
As the season goes on you can see other flowers blooming at farms in the area, from lavender in June at Langley's Full Bloom Lavender Farm to sunflowers in August.
