Towering mountains wrap around this scenic lake, with a small town nestled alongside it all. It's a tranquil getaway, set deep in the nature of a national park.
It's not the bustling town of Banff or the tourist hot spot of Lake Louise – no, this place is where the crowds thin out and you can breathe in the fresh air and silence of Alberta's great outdoors.
Waterton Village is tucked away in Waterton National Park, almost three hours away from Calgary. While it's a bit of a road trip, it's a beloved spot by locals — who named is one of the most underrated spots in the province, in a recent ask on the Narcity Facebook Page.
On the edge of the lake, perched on a small hillside, sits the Prince of Wales Hotel. It's a landmark of the town and a must-see spot while here. You can go to just take in the view or head inside for the high tea service here.
