Orange County Had To Shut Down Their $1K Rent Subsidy Site In Just 18 Minutes

The Orange County CARES rent assistance program reopened for new applications this Monday at 8 a.m. to help Orlando residents in need with utility, rent, and medical costs, but was closed again after being open for not even 20 minutes.

A Twitter post by Orange County FL explained that the Individual and Family Assistance Program application portal had reached its limit of 10,000 users at 8:18 this morning.

The post went on to explain that updates for the program would be posted on social media, as well as the official website.

The program was meant to deliver one-time payments of $1000 to accepted applicants but had not previously stated how many applications would be accepted.

The official website stated that the application window was originally set to close on Saturday, December 19, 2020, or when funds had run out.
