Here are eight Canadian airlines offering new routes from Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and more this year.
Lynx
Ultra low-cost carrier Lynx Air is introducing several new routes in 2024, with new international destinations from two major Canadian airports.
Starting this summer, Lynx will be adding service to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Lynx will add Boston as its newest U.S. destination starting on March 28, 2024, followed by San Francisco on May 3, 2024, with flights operating direct from Toronto.
Montrealers will also be able to do some city hopping this year with new service to the City of Angels. This summer, direct Lynx flights will be offered between Montreal Trudeau International Airport and LAX, with service starting July 11, 2024.
Play Airlines
Play Airlines, Canada's only budget airline offering cheap flights to Europe, has announced that it will be launching flights from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport to Split, Croatia, this summer.
The new destination means there are 34 European cities Canadians can jet off to with the low-cost airline.
From John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, Canadian passengers can fly to Split one way starting at $359. Like all of the Icelandic carrier's flights from Toronto, flights to Split will transit through Iceland, with travellers having the option of adding a stopover in the country to their trip.
"Split is a dream destination for us at PLAY," said PLAY CEO Birgir Jónsson in a press release. "It has beautiful landscapes and a vibrant culture. I have no doubt this will be one of our most popular destinations this year."
Canada Jetlines
Canada Jetlines, a low-cost airline that hit the scene in 2022, will be adding more flights between Toronto and Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 2024.
The airline launched the new route in December starting with twice-weekly direct flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
In 2024, the airline will be adding a third weekly flight to the tropical destination, making it easier for Torontonians to get a sunny getaway.
Air Transat
Montreal-based Air Transat will be introducing a non-stop route from Montreal to Marrakesh, Morocco, this summer, with flights taking off in June 2024.
Air Transit will be the only airline in North America to offer non-stop flights to this Moroccan city once trips take off.
Starting June 12, flights connecting YUL to Marrakesh Menara Airport will be offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Travellers from Toronto's Pearson Airport can also fly Air Transat to Marrakesh starting in June, with flights connecting through Montreal Trudeau International Airport.
Air Transat will also be offering direct flights from Montreal to Lima, Peru, and from Toronto to Lima three times a week starting February 21, 2024.
The non-stop flights are the only ones between Canada and Peru, according to Air Transat, and will be operated throughout the year.
WestJet
WestJet is bolstering its Calgary base with new flights from the city taking off this year.
WestJet will become the only airline providing direct service to Iceland from Calgary in 2024, with flights to the Nordic country from Canada taking off four times a week starting May 15, meaning you can start booking summer trips to the land of fire and ice.
Also starting in May, WestJet will offer non-stop flights to Seoul, South Korea from Calgary. The airline says the destination addition is part of a wider strategy to enhance Calgary’s presence as an intercontinental hub.
Flights will take off from YYC in Calgary to Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul starting on May 17, with service three times a week.
According to WestJet, guests travelling between Calgary and Seoul will "enjoy the luxuries" of WestJet’s 787 Dreamliner, which has the biggest window size of any aircraft, in addition to other unique features.
Air Canada
Air Canada is adding some exciting warm-weather destinations to its network this summer, including a popular Canadian tourist spot.
The airline announced in December that it will be offering new service to Tulum, Mexico, with flights from Toronto and Montreal to Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport, the newest airport in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula.
The flights will operate year-round, with service from Toronto and Montreal beginning on May 3 and 4, 2024, respectively.
Air Canada is also adding new service from Toronto to Charleston, South Carolina, with daily non-stop flights set to take off starting March 28, 2024.
The airline will also be adding additional new flights to Austin, Texas, and St. Louis, Missouri, from Montreal, which it says will complement its flights from Toronto and Vancouver to Austin, and from Toronto to St. Louis.
Porter Airlines
Porter Airlines is adding some sunny U.S. destinations to its network.
New flights from Toronto Pearson Airport to San Francisco take off starting January 25, 2024, operated by Porter's Embraer E195-E2 aircraft which feature a 132-seat, all-economy, two-by-two configuration, meaning there aren't any middle seats.
The airline also recently added service from YYZ to Los Angeles (LAX), which started on January 16.
Porter is also adding new service to Las Vegas from Toronto, with flights from Pearson Airport to Harry Reid International Airport starting March 5, 2024.
Flair Airlines
Low-cost carrier Flair Airlines has just launched new flights connecting New Brunswick and sunny Orlando, Florida.
New service from Saint John Airport in Saint John, New Brunswick, to Orlando Sanford International Airport kicked off this week.
The airport is the only terminal in the Maritimes to get the new flight routes from Flair, according to CTV News.
Non-stop flights between Saint John and Orlando will run once a week until early May 2024.
