The animal "was left to die" and had a hideous smell before being found by members of the Tri-County Humane, a non-profit shelter rescuing animals in Florida.

Après être intervenue pour tenter de venir en aide au renard du Vieux-Port, l'association Sauvetage Animal Rescue a indiqué tard dans la soirée du samedi 4 juin avoir procédé au sauvetage d'un chat enfermé pendant sept jours dans une cage dans une maison vide au nord de Montréal.

« Nous avons reçu un appel à notre centrale par un citoyen qui vient d'emménager dans une maison. Horrible découverte, un chat enfermé dans un transporteur qui y serait depuis sept jours. L'ex-propriétaire de l'animal n'en voulait plus. Il a donc laissé son chat à son ancien domicile », a raconté en exclusivité à Narcity, Eric Dussault, le directeur général de Sauvetage Animal Rescue.
