I've lived in Toronto for 10 years, and once I became an adult and steered away from Pizza Hut and Domino's every weekend, I realized there are a lot of affordable and delicious pizzas in the city that beat the fast food chains.
I don't have a favourite kind of pizza, since it depends on my mood whether I'm looking for a traditional Italian pizza or a more American-style one. Generally though I go for the basic choices, especially when trying to judge how good a spot is. If a pizza joint can't get the most basic pizza right, then I don't want to try anything else.
I have tried a few fan-favourite pizza spots in Toronto, but after years of experience trying different restaurants in the city, I think these spots have the best pizza in Toronto.
Here are eight Toronto restaurants that I believe have the best pizza slices in the city, in no particular order.
Danny's Pizza Tavern

Why You Need To Go: This Toronto pizza spot went viral on TikTok for having stretchy and cheesy mozzarella sticks and even though those are must-haves, the pizza is so different, I loved it.
The spot is cozy, small, and tucked away in Toronto's Little Italy neighbourhood. The pizza slices are not triangular at this spot. Instead, you'll be eating rectangular-shaped slices, which makes it so fun.
If you're a person who hates the crust, dive into the middle rectangular-shaped slices. If you love the crust, the surroundings are all yours. It's called optimization at its finest.
Also, the cheese on the pizza is stringy, the crust is freshly baked, and the flavours are delicious.

Piccolo Piano

Why You Need To Go: Piccolo Piano is the sister restaurant of the famous Piano Piano, but the pizza, in my opinion, is better than Piccolo.
This low-key and extravagant restaurant is perfect for date nights because the decor is beautiful and the pizzas are crave-worthy.
At Piccolo, your pizza comes uncut but rather comes with the cutest scissors to slice up your pie as you like.
What makes this pizza so special, you ask? Well, the dough is super fluffy and light, unlike anything I've ever tried before. The olive oil is potent and the textures are on point.
I usually get the Wild Mushroom Bianco pizza that comes with Porcini Sauce, Wild Mushrooms, Grana Padano, Fior di Latte, and Garlic Oil.

Pizzeria Badiali's

Why You Need To Go: You cannot have the best pizza in Toronto list without mentioning Badiali's because it's just so freaking good.
The pizza has a perfect crust-to-tomato and cheese ratio that no other place has quite gotten right.
If the aromas don't make you fall in love with this pizza joint, I'm not sure what will because every bite is so delicious, no matter what pizza you choose.
The pizza has a crunchy crust, the slices are thin, and every topping is thought out perfectly. This might be the best Margarita slice in the city and I believe many of you might agree.
Also, the quality pizza is relatively cheap, and they sell pizza by the slice. So, next time, you go grab a couple of different slices and find your new favourite.

Why You Need To Go: This popular pizza spot is one of the city's newest additions, and even though everyone goes for their thick slices, I really enjoy the thin pizza.
The pizza is the most New York-style slice I've tried in Toronto, and it's so good.
Prince St. Pizza opened in Toronto's The Well last year and has been busy ever since, but while people lean towards their Original Spicy Pepperoni Square, I like The Fancy Prince.
Unlike the other square slices, this one is a round pizza similar to a classic margarita but so much better. The thin crust slice comes with fresh mozzarella, original pizza sauce, fresh basil, pecorino romano and extra virgin olive oil.
Also, The Sunset Square is the perfect sweet-to-savoury slice, so this is a must if you love the best of both worlds.

Why You Need To Go: This ma and pa Italian joint is a hidden gem tucked away in Toronto's Little Italy, and it is one of my favourite restaurants in the city.
I stumbled upon this place with my sister a couple of years ago. We were walking around Toronto looking for somewhere to eat when we spotted Tav's and discovered their hidden outdoor patio. Our experience only got better.
They are known for their Gnocchi and Pizza because both are made in-house and the Italian way.
My favourite pizza here is the Genovese, which comes with homemade basil pesto, fior di latte, sundried tomato, goat cheese, roasted red pepper and Kalamata olives. Yum!

The Parlour

Why You Need To Go: The Parlour has two Canadian locations, one in Vancouver and the other in Toronto and it might be one of the best additions to King Street West because their pizza slices are to die for.
They offer thick-crust pizzas that are moist and fluffy with toppings you might not think to like on a pizza.
From prawns to potatoes, meatballs, charred leeks and more, they will definitely challenge your typical idea of what a pizza should consist of and make you love their offerings.
My go-to is the Goldmember pizza, which comes with caramelized onion, mushroom duxelles, Yukon gold potato, truffle oil, gruyère and mozzarella. Also, their 610 dipping sauce is so flavourful and creamy too — so if you're a dip person, don't forget to order it!

Why You Need To Go: This neighbourhood restaurant should not be walked past because not only is the restaurant massive and beautifully decorated, but the pizza is so good.
The restaurant uses a wood-fired oven to perfect its pizzas and local and seasonal organic produce.
I really enjoy their Margherita because even though it consists of three toppings, San Marzano Tomatoes, fior di latte and basil, they shine bright in this pie.

Why You Need To Go: Bar Poet has been a West Queen West staple for a few years and they are still quite popular because their food is drool-worthy.
I love their pizza.
They have many options to choose from and they all cost $22. From Hawaiian pizza to mushroom, pepperoni, and Margharita, there's a lot to explore.
Also, the restaurant has a retro feel and delicious drinks, which makes the vibes immaculate!
Oh, and don't miss out on the garlic fingers; you won't regret it.
