Fancy a trip to outer space? You don't need to get on a rocket ship in order to enjoy some otherworldly views. This trail near Toronto takes you through a surreal landscape that will have you feeling like you've stepped onto Mars.
The Cheltenham Badlands site, located in Caledon, is "one of Ontario's geological treasures," according to the website, and it's a magical spot to explore.
The area was formed at the bottom of an ancient sea millions of years ago and features rolling red hills with contrasting white stripes.
According to Destination Ontario, the site is "so alien looking it could be the set for a Star Trek episode."
The fall is an especially beautiful time to visit this natural wonder, when the bright red rocks are encased by vibrant autumn colours.
There are several trails to explore while in the area.
The 60-metre Boardwalk Trail winds across the curving rocks to give you some incredible views. It's important to stay on the boardwalk as walking through the Badlands is prohibited.
You can also visit the Badlands Trail, which connects the Bruce Trail to the viewing platform. The stroll leads you through a red and gold forest brimming with colourful trees.
If you're looking for a longer adventure, you can continue along the 1.33-kilometre section of the Bruce Trail, which passes through the Badlands and is lined with apple trees and vibrant foliage.
You'll need to book a parking reservation prior to your visit, so be sure to plan in advance.
