Alan Ritchson Told Jimmy Fallon That He Went Full 'Reacher' On Montreal's Top 'Car Burglar'
Reacher star Alan Ritchson is sharing more details about the time he stopped one of Old Montreal's top car burglars during a date night with his wife.
Ritchson was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when he told the late-night host about the incident and how it all went down.
During his appearance, Ritchson started by talking about how he landed the lead role of Jack Reacher and how he channels the character in real life.
"Do you ever feel like you're Reacher in real life?" Fallon asked Ritchson.
That's when the actor admitted he and his character share a lot of similarities like the fact that they both eat a lot.
Then Ritchson dove into a story about how he stopped a car burglary in Old Montreal.
"I love justice," Ritchson said and added that he doesn't like to wait for the "fickle" justice system when he can take care of a situation himself.
The Reacher actor was on a date when his wife Catherine noticed feet dangling out of a car window and pointed out that she thought someone had broken into a car.
"This guy pulls out of the car and he has like four duffle bags of stuff and he starts running towards us," Ritchson explained.
"We lock eyes as he passes and I'm like 'Oh no he's definitely like an ACME villain and I'm going to have to do something about this.'"

That's when the actor took off after the guy, chasing him down the Montreal streets.
"I come around the corner and the dude like David Copperfield is just gone [...] and somebody from way down the block goes 'he's under the van,'" he told Fallon.
The man ended up leaving the duffle bags once Ritchson spotted him, but the Reacher star wasn't finished.
"I gently take him like a shot put like a discus and I twirl him right into the building and he just slides down like a cartoon character."
When the police arrived, Ritchson says they told him he had stopped the most "prolific car burglar in Old Montreal."
Ritchson has been in Ontario filming Season 3 of Reacher since January and he told Fallon they are "nearing completion." The actor has been spotted on multiple occasions filming various scenes around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The actor told Fallon landing the role was a "hard-fought win" and that he was never supposed to be Reacher because he didn't fit the exact specifications of the character.
"I got lucky," he said.
