I'm a Toronto food writer and with the job comes a lot of taste tests and restaurant reviews. In other words, I've got a list of places you need to try and I'm not going to gatekeep because your tastebuds deserve the very best this year.
Even though it's only February, the city's fast-paced and ever-changing landscape has allowed me to try an abundance of new restaurants in 2024 that I think every Torontonian should have on their list.
The year is already off to a great start, and it will only get better.
To get you excited about discovering new spots in the city, here is a list of seven new Toronto restaurants you should add to your list if you are hoping to impress your friends and family.
Also, they make for charming date spots because they are all so romantic.
Lulu Bar

Why You Need To Go: Lulu bar takes you away from the cold Toronto winter weather and transports you to a tropical place like Honolulu, where you can just taste the summer vibes.
Lulu bar has a menu filled with delicious bites and thirst-quenching cocktails and mocktails that are hard not to remember.
I absolutely loved this new restaurant in Toronto's The Well and am waiting to go back to try more things on their menu.
Also, you must order the Whole Fried Sea Bream, Fried Coconut Squid and The Poke.
You know what else is so cool about this place, is they are very accommodating to people's dietary restrictions and have options for almost everyone. In fact, a lot of their menu items are gluten-free.
Absolutely delicious.
Abrielle

Why You Need To Go: Abrielle is at the top of my must-tries in Toronto, and even though it opened in late 2023, it has introduced a new menu that is worth trying.
I checked out their dinner and brunch menus, which both offer completely different things, but the quality and vast flavours remain the same.
From juicy and herby lamb chops to their whipped eggplant and burrata, the dinner menu is to die for.
Meanwhile, the cibir, freshly baked croissants and baked eggs are the brunch items you need to indulge in on the weekends.
Rhapsody

Cuisine: Peruvian-Japanese
Why You Need To Go: If you love ceviche, run to Rhapsody. Not only is the restaurant so whimsical and groovy, but it's also got a food menu that you can't skip.
The ceviche at Rhapsody on Ossington is one of the best plates I've had in the city. The citrusy and sweet undertones with the perfectly moist fish and juicy vegetables make this dish delicious, and everyone should give it a try.
They even have a vegan version, which is arguably just as good and maybe even better.
Electric Bill

From crispy beef sausage rolls to Australian hand pies, the snack-sized food is perfect for anyone looking to peck at something while drinking a thirst-quenching cocktail.
Also, don't be shocked when you've been given an Oxford Dictionary to look through at the table, they've repurposed it to make it their menu, and it's hilarious.

Why You Need To Go: If you want to live your Blair and Serena Gossip Girl dreams but can't afford a first-class ticket to Paris right now, taking your bestie to Frenchy could be the next best thing.
This new Parisian restaurant is opening its doors this week, and it's exactly what the city needs. The French restaurant is located in the Hilton Hotel and it's a place to go any time of day.
Whether you're looking for a morning bit, a quick lunch, a hearty dinner or a late-night affair, Frenchy is here to serve you.
From French onion soup to escargots, baked brie, steak and frites, this new French restaurant in Toronto has got you covered.
Goodnight Cocktail Club

Why You Need To Go: Although this cocktail bar is not an official speakeasy, it definitely feels like one. It's tucked away beside the popular Cherry's High Dive on Wellington Avenue and the decor feels like an upscale version of your grandma's vintage dining room and I love it.
From retro booths to colourful and dimly lit chandeliers, the space is so cute you'll want to grab your girlfriends and go.
The restaurant also has a menu with a few food items that would be perfect to pair with your cocktails, like warm olives, stuffed dates, oysters and tuna crudo.
Bar Goa

Cuisine: Indian
Why You Need To Go: Okay, I cheated. I haven't been to Bar Goa before, but it's at the top of my list because every person who has gone has told me just how good it is, and it deserves to be on this list.
Bar Goa is an Indian restaurant that offers tapas-styled dishes with flavours from Goa, the southwest side of India.
The chic interior and purposefully thought-out dishes make every photo look better than the one before.
The menu has Lobster seekh kebab, Crab Kismur Appam, Branzino Moilee and more twists to your favourite classics.
But don't worry, they also have Butter Chicken on the menu.
There are a whole bunch of other spots that have opened recently that I cannot wait to check out, but from the new places I have been, this is a list of spaces I want to go back to because they were worth it.
