Travelling to Paris from Toronto isn't cheap, but you know what's a great alternative? Heading to the Hilton Hotel in Toronto and dining at Frenchy Bar et Brasserie, which will transport you to the city of love in a heartbeat.

Frenchy Bar et Brasserie is Toronto's newest European restaurant, located in the lobby of Hilton, and it is superb.

The restaurant is relatively large, with an airy and open-concept seating area that resembles an experience you might find in Europe.

The decor is glamorous and represents a modern French experience. From floral patterned table lamps to burgundy-coloured chairs and chandeliers that fill the space with light, the restaurant is nothing less than beautiful.

From the moment I spotted the restaurant, I was shocked by just how thought-out every piece of furniture was in the space. The bar will definitely be an Instagram-worthy spot with its unique shape, retro bar stools and contrasty colours.

Also, the art on the walls gives the space a unique touch and helps transport you far away from Toronto and to a cute brasserie in France.

The restaurant serves a lot more than just dinner, and they want to make sure everyone, no matter what time of day, has something delicious to eat there.
What I loved most about the food was the freshness in every bite. Executive Chef Aaron Chen told Narcity he wanted to keep the French food to its core and add small touches that make the recipes slightly different.
"Every bite at Frenchy should celebrate the essence of French gastronomy with a touch of relaxed elegance," he shared in a press release.
Frenchy doesn't focus primarily on dinner. In fact, whenever you stop by this restaurant, you will be greeted by a delicious menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Frenchy Bar et Brasserie Food

I checked out the restaurant before its official opening date and tried a whole bunch of things off the menu. Some things are must-tries, so next time you are looking for a European getaway, make sure to order these items.

First up is the French onion soup. It was literally everything I ever dreamed of. The gruyère cheese was so stringy, and it was torched on the top, which gave it a bit of a smoky flavour. The beef broth was filled with different notes that made it taste like warmth in my belly.
Next, off of their lunch menu are two food items that you won't stop thinking about.

I'm not one for salads, but when I go back to Frenchy, I will be getting the chicken paillard salad to share because the consistency, herbs and dressing were bursting with flavour and it felt like summer in my mouth.
The chicken paillard comes with arugula, red onion, tomato, and white wine vinaigrette and that combination with the chicken was light and refreshing.
Next is the tuna steak with fries. If you love eating a club sandwich, this is similar but very much elevated. The sandwich comes on the sofest brioche bread and has 6oz herbe de provence marinated ahi tuna, bibb lettuce, lemon aioli, tomato, lettuce and gribiche sauce.
The tuna wasn't too fishy and the crunch was perfect in every bite.
Other things I tried at Frenchy are the jumbo shrimp cocktail and gnocchi parisien, which if you like peas, you'll love their take on the dish.

Drinks and Dessert

The dessert and drinks are worth mentioning because, oddly enough, they were both quite refreshing and indulgent.
I got the tarte au citron which is a lemon tarte, with pâte sablée, torched meringue and raspberry. The tarte was almost too picture-perfect to eat and looked like something Ratatouille would serve. Once I bit into it, I realized it tasted even better than it looked.
It was bursting with citrusy notes, and the crust was crunchy but also light which accompanied the meringue well.

For your choice of drinks, make sure to get the Frenchy 75. It's a thirst-quenching beverage that has a really cute gummy to bite into in the shape of lips.
If espresso martinis is your go-to cocktail, try their take on it which has hints of pistachio.
For those who like alcohol-free drinks, the ones at Frenchy are arguably just as good as the alcohol-filled ones. The faux femme libertine is light, bubbly and refreshing. It consists of seedlip garden 108, lemon sorbet and non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
I loved everything about Frenchy Bar et Brasserie including the service, the decor and cocktails, and obviously the food. The restaurant plans on introducing a new brunch menu too, so brunch girlies unite!
Frenchy Bar et Brasserie opens to the public February 29, 2024 and is located at 145 Richmond St. W. inside the Hilton Toronto.
Enjoy a taste of Paris, Toronto!
