Snowfall warnings have been issued in the GTA as Ontario's weather brings 'heavy snow'
If you thought winter was over, Ontario's weather is bringing the season back with a wintry blast today.
Toronto and the GTA are currently under snowfall warnings because of "heavy snow" and reduced visibility.
With this snowstorm, most places are forecast to get up to 15 centimetres of snow.
Light snow is expected to start in the morning on Friday, March 22 but then "intensify" later in the afternoon or evening, depending on where you live.
So, Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for cities, towns and communities around Lake Ontario — including the GTA.
Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Halton Hills, Milton, Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton are under snowfall warnings for Friday.
People in Pickering, Oshawa, Kingston, Napanee, Belleville and Cobourg are also being warned about this snowstorm.
Hazards include snowfall near 15 centimetres and reduced visibility in "heavy snow."
"This snow may have a significant impact on the evening commute in urban areas," Environment Canada said in the weather warning.
Visibility could be "suddenly reduced" during the storm and highways, roads, sidewalks and parking lots could be "difficult to navigate" because of accumulating snow.
Then, the snow will taper off late tonight, with clearing starting in the west and moving east.
According to The Weather Network, this snowstorm could bring Toronto its largest snowfall of the season!
Other parts of southern Ontario are currently under a winter weather travel advisory from Environment Canada.
It's expected that 5 to 10 centimetres of snow will come down on Friday and visibility will be reduced during periods of heavier snow.
