Canadians gave their thoughts in a survey about 13 jobs.
When it comes to COVID-19 vaccination for workers in Canada, a majority of Canadians believe employees in nine professions should either be fully vaccinated or fired.
As part of a new public opinion poll by Yahoo/Maru that was released on August 13, 1,504 people were asked if workers in 13 jobs should have vaccinations be a requirement of their position or not.
In the poll, 71% of respondents said health care workers in any patient setting should be vaccinated or fired; 71% agreed for paramedics; 70% for nurses; 64% for police, teachers and school staff; 59% for municipal transit workers; 54% for servers/personnel in restaurants and 51% for civil servants.
For the other professions that people were asked about, 46% of respondents said any employee in a municipal job should be vaccinated or fired; 46% agreed for any employee of a private sector company that is federally regulated; 45% agreed for any employee of a private sector company that is provincially regulated, and 36% agreed for employees in regular business.
On August 13, the federal government revealed that they are making vaccinations mandatory for federal public service employees, people working in federally regulated industries, and travellers on commercial planes, trains and cruise ships.
